Thunderbolt, despite being really standard and nothing special, is fun for me. I like himalayas.
The Thunder Bolt is Playlands Chance himalaya. Located towards the back of the park, the Thunder Bolt appears just like the standard Thunderbolt that you could find at various carnivals and parks across the country. It has the attractive light package and it looked to be in decent condition. Due to Thunder Bolts high capacity, it generally is a walk-on. I found that Thunder Bolt loaded relatively quickly compared to other himalayas. Restrained by just a lap bar, the Thunder Bolts has one major glaring weakness, its wretched speed. The ride was much slower compared to other himalayas and there was almost no swinging due to the very slow speed. Despite how it went backwards, the Thunder Bolt was just way too slow to be much fun at all. I liked the Mini Himalaya (their kiddie himalaya) more than this one. The cycle wasnt anything special. Overall, the Thunder Bolt was a weak himalaya thats worth a ride by spinning-ride fans as long as it doesnt have a line.
This is your standard Chance Thunderbolt you find at practically every Carnival in the world. They run it at a good speed but the music is a bit too laud and the ride looked a bit run down. Ride cycle was poor and very uncomfortable. I really dont know why they are opting to keep this while Dumping rides like power surge and Sky flyer.
This is good, but nothing near great. It does goes backwards though! However, the ride cycle is nothing spectacular. I do have to say that this ride had the best ride ops at the park (they were actually friendly, and the DJ/board operater occasionally sang to the music with his horrible voice). Im not sure if this has a strobe, but I have to assume that it does (I dont know, I rode it during the day). I prefer Clementons hands down.
An okay toboggan ride, not something uncommon. The music on these rides I do find annoying. I never got into the screaming stuff on these rides, and all the loud noise of people screaming is therefore far too synthetic.
One of my favorites at Playland. The louder you scream the faster you go (supposedly).
A standard taboggan ride with a decent light show.
