This is a fantastic and fun inverted coaster. The lift hill is almost 200 and is curved on the decsend, this is followed by an Immellan inversion, then a tall vertical loop, then a cobra roll with two flips, a tunnel follows, then a g-roll,corkscrew/helix combo. This coaster also has nice theming like a ski lift with fake snow. Its one of my favorite inverted coasters and a must ride for all enthusiasts. The Alpengeist is a steel sit down iverted roller coaster. It was built by B&M in 1997. It is 195'tall, 3,828' long, it runs at 67 mph, it lasts 3:10, it is fun, rerideable, it has a large capacity and a long duration.

What a ride! While far outside the park, I could see this green and white steel monster. That was when I knew that I had to ride this thing! Alpengeist didnt deliver what I expected, but it was utterly close. The first drop is long, sweet, and smooth, probably my favorite curved drop on a roller coaster. Than we come to my favorite part of the ride--the immelman. I like it because its so big, smooth, and intense. Then comes the 106 foot tall vertical loop. Next comes the worst part of the ride--the first part of the cobra roll. Ive never enjoyed it too much because its just too intense. It was probably because I sat in the back. Ill try the front next time. After the cobra roll, we head to the brakes. Making a drop off the brakes, we come up into the fun zero-g roll. Then its time for one more inversion--the corkscrew. Last but not least, we surge through a helix above some "snow". Alpengeist is a very fun, tall, and fast inverted coaster. Unfortunately, prepare for some annoying intensity in the cobra roll. Despite that, you must ride this!

From the first time I saw the ominous white lift high above the surrounding trees while on Loch Ness, I knew it would be a ride to remember. In my opinion, this is the king of the inverted coasters not just because of its height and speed, but because it delivers thrills with every ride. On inverted coasters riders are situated below the track in ski-lift style trains. I have to say Ive grown to respect some of the more compact inverts out there, but Alpengeist is still the best.

First theres the intimidating (almost 200 tall) lift hill where you find yourself wondering when youll get to the top. The view past your dangling feet of the ground and even trees far below is pretty unnerving. After the lift hill you fly down an enormous swooping drop that puts the train on its way to breaking the sound barrier (at least it feels like it). Then an Immelman inversion so tall and smooth you can just barely feel the inversion, followed by a tall vertical loop with some great g-forces. And now youre on the way to meet Loch Ness down by the Rhine River where you hit an extreme, sometimes rough, cobra roll featuring two back to back inversions. Next, you move through a mid-course brake run, drop out of the run with a little pop of airtime through a short themed tunnel and into a sweet zero-g roll. The roll is followed by a nice corkscrew and helix combination. The sequence after the brakes is one of the best around in my opinion.

Where some rides tend to peeter out towards the end, this one delivers right up until your uproarious return to the station. So Alpengeist gets a rare 10 from me because: its a terrain ride (meaning it wasnt just plopped down on a parking lot or some flat lot of land), its massive (over three minutes of ride time), its fast, its themed pretty well (with little touches many wont even notice), and its relatively smooth. You may experience an occasional headbang, but its far from a head-bang-athon like all of those Mind Eraser installations all over the country. On top of all that it delivers thrills and gives you a unique experience. Thats a 10 in my book!
Final Rating - 10 (Superior)

The number 2 inverted coaster on my list. The only thing that keeps it from being a 10 is that maybe it is a bit too intense. Otherwise, this is an unbelievable ride. All of the elements are executed to perfection.

Wow, this monster of a coaster imediatly became my number one inverted coaster. The theme of the ride is clever, and some of the visuals in the line are amusing. The ride itself is unbelievable. The ride is fast and intense, yet extremly smooth. The loop was HUGE and the rolls were really pronounced. This is the only coasters Ive been on that felt like it was truly angry at me when I rode it.

Alpengeist, although a great ride, didnt live up to all of its hype. It is not as intense as other inverted coasters, but it is still a very fun ride. I think that the reason it wasn’t as intense as others is that the inversions are simply too big for the ride. Unlike the tight loops of a B:TR, these are massive and great to look at, but not as intense. The large swooping first drop is a great start. After a seemingly endless onslaught of inversions and track, the ride ends with some great helixes that soar through snowy rocks.

I will start out with the rating. Alpie gets my first 10 rating, because it is my favorite coaster in the world so far, invert or not. This might change at some point in the future when I get more riding experience, but at this point in time, Alpie is the coaster by which all others are judged in my view. Although I have an apprecaition for airtime, I am more of a fan of intensity and an innovative element layout. Alpengeist is a well-themed coaster with fake ski lift-type condition signs designed to make the overall theme a synergistic component of the riding experience. The faux snow added to the theming as well, and the weather was horrid when I rode this beast. This began to actually make me believe that I was a wanderer in this fairytale land of doom that designers were pushing upon me. I inadvertently waited on line for the front row, not realizing that there was a clear sign warning me of this. When I finally mounted the haunted beast, I had a clear view of the sudden thunderous rain downpour that I would soon experience. The ride began, and I tried to be brave, but this is difficult when riding the equivalent of a car speeding down the highway at nearly 70mph with no windshield in a thunderstorm. (Oh, did I mention that the car is flying up to 195 feet high in this analogy?) The intial drop was very unique in that it meandered around a decsending turn, giving the impression that it would not be intense. However, the drop is so high that the intensity quickly sneaked up on me with malicious intent, and then the fun began! I grabbed for my glasses in an effort not to lose them in this whirlwind of ferocity that I was experiencing! This ride took me by surprise and I was never really able to regain my bearings. It was a constant struggle for life. I rode it ultra-defensively, and was totally unprepared for its prowess. It came rather close to the ground several times, which was a big plus. The cobra roll over the Rhine River, which is now my favorite inversion because of this ride, was powerful and demanding. It showed off Alpies anger in a way that made me bow in humility. The Immelman was intense, and I felt some good gs on it. I dont think that I had ever experienced a Zero-G roll on any coaster before this one either, and it was a strange sensation of euphoria. In summary, when I mounted this beast, I had no idea that it was the tallest, fastest invert in the world with the highest drop and the largest vertical loop. However, I found all of this out in short order as this ride pleased my senses in every conceivable way that a roller coaster can. I felt totally brutalized in every way after I dismounted Alpie. No matter how much I tried to reconcile my machismo, I cannot say that I had that feeling of conquering a coaster that is the norm after I finally decide to bear down and ride it. All I did was barely survive Alpie, not conquer it, but there is always Round 2! Get ready Alpengeist, because Im coming, and Im bringing hell with me! Kudos B&M on a masterpiece! Aplengeist is FAR more than I ever expected, and is #1 on my list of favorite coasters.

Nine or ten? Hmm... Its a tough one. Its near impossible to get an invert without the roughness in the elements, and thats my only slight complaint... You know what, Ill give it a ten. Its a great experience all the way through to the end, even with a little roughness. I really enjoyed it.

Another fantastic ride at BGW. We waited about 40 minutes for the front seat, just because I had heard the front was the best seat you could get on this ride. Alpengeist is simply an amazing inverted coaster. Every element on this ride is huge! Call me a size queen, but Alpengeist takes every element, every inversion, with amazing force, speed and height. I loved having the immelman come first as opposed to the now standard vertical loop. And the Cobra Roll, my God!!! From the front seat you absolutely could not tell where it was and when it was coming. And from the backseat, WHOA!!! The only problem with the cobra roll in the back is that it whips your head around a bit. This is one of the reasons why the rating dropped a bit. Its extremely intense - much tighter than the cobra roll on Raptor, and higher, too. You simply cannot see it coming! I loved the *flip-you-this-way* heartline followed immediately by the *flip-you-that-way* flatline spin. I got (I think we *all* got) amazing airtime on the heartline on Saturday night. The only thing that keeps this from being a top ten coaster is the head banging in cars further back. Ive said this before, but expect this to jump in and out of my top 10. I cant sum uf how I feel about this ride. This is in my top 10 steel coaster list though.

Ok, this ride is great! There are actually two different Alpengeists, One, riding in the front, two riding anywhere else. On the one hand the front of this ride is IMO THE BEST COASTER IN THE NATION, on the other it barly misses my top 10. I have it ranked number one on my top 10 though because of the front. I have ridden almost every coaster in this nation and no ride I have ever ridden is so worth the wait for the front. Its completely relentless! You cant even breath till the ride finishes. The problem on any other seat is you cant see ANYTHING, you also lose the wind which makes it feel so much faster than it actually is. Hands down the best inversion in the country! There are other rides that our much better than this from any seat compared to any other seat on Alpengeist but not the front, from there this ride is the king!
