Its fun and twisty and bumpy and jerky and has some good air, but something is missing? How about a drop instead of a curved ramp. the beginning of this ride is a let down since the designer was obviously trying to emulate Harry Traver. the geometry is just wrong. If the drop was higher or steeper and the hting got ooff to a faster stop itd be awesome. But as is its jut not fast enough. If youre in Hershey park and there isnt a line give it a go, but dont make a special trip for it.
I rode this when it was new and it was great but it has just gotten too rough.. The Comet isnt even that bad but the Wildcat is still a good coaster and it does fit in with the park....
This is one of my favorite wooden coasters. Was kinda rough but not the painful rough. It was just a very intense and fun ride.
A really fun GCI creation. Not sure what they say that it is clocked at... I think only around 40 to 50 mph, but the Cat seems like it runs much faster. Like most GCI coasters, I dont think there is any straight track on the thing (aside from the lift hill and final break run), Its just one trick after another. It lacks a little in the ".big drop". department, and even the first drop is not that ".breathtaking"., but after that it rips lose with a burst of speed that doesnt end until you hit the breaks. Recomendation: For all.
UPDATE: 11/3/2008 Last year I stated how the new Melinium Flyer Trains didn'.t make that much of a difference when it came to roughness. Rode this most recently on Oct 31 at Hersheypark in the Dark. Something different. While still an agressive coaster, it was not painfully rough. As a matter of fact, the three rides I had on this night were probably the three most fun rides I have ever had on this coaster. Does it run better in cool temps? Or did they replace the old square wheels with round ones?
Good for a woodie, but Im not a twist and drop type of guy.
I liked the ride enough to put it on my top ten, but it was just to jerky and was not fit to be in just didnt seem to fit into Hershey Park.
This ride has gotten a bit rough with age, but not nearly as bad as Laotzu seems to think. He should go across town to the Cyclone for a ride that makes Acers put their hands down. And of course I can forgive a lot in a coaster which has the longest period of air Ive ever experienced in a twister. (Try the last few rows on a hot night.)
this is the most out-of-control-feeling woodie ive been on! i know i know, its sooo rough. boohoo. without the roughness the wildcat would prolly suck. but roughness goes great with this ride.
One great coaster - it never slows down, lots of gs,exciting to the end. Too rough? Its a woodie! Thats what its all about! It doesnt slam you like some coasters do (or used to). If you want smooth, ride a steelie. If you want old fashioned fun, this is it.
Wild Cat is currently my #7 ride. The curved drops and REALLY high Gs (especially at the bottom of the first drop!!) are sweet!
