How much does it cost? Is it worth it?

$5.00 for the first ride, $4.00 for an immediate re-ride. And it is worth every cent plus some.

10 per ride is worth it for this one

This is a great woodie but if you think this is expensive then you havnt seen prices on a lot of single coasters. I went on this coaster in the summer 0f 2001. The best wood coaster that I have been on to this date. Some single coasters are like 7 dollars a ticket. But you should cherish every moment of the ride because you wont be sseing it too much longer.

I think we has asking wich ones cost 7 dollers. butht ebest deal is to buy a day pass. $20.00 for a day pass includes 5 rides on the Cyclone(must get off and get back on), and ability to ride the majority of the rides.

The cyclone is 75 years old now im pretty sure within the next 10 years it might stop running.

Ha, what are you smoking? The Cyclone is a National Historic Landmark, mean it aint going anywhere, ever. It is also still the most popular ride at Astroland. It will never stop running, it will never be torn down or moved, you can count on that.
mrceagle on 2/19/2003 12:19:19 PM said:
The Cyclone is in pristen running condition. they have many local companey helping them with parts to keep it up and runing. age has nothing to do with a ride runing or not runing. it all has to do with the amount of upkeep given to it.
coasterkev on 2/19/2003 4:49:04 PM said:
that coaster will never stop running. the city owns it sow all it needs is a macanic to fixit and an operator to run it.
B&M Fan on 2/19/2003 4:54:58 PM said:
No what I mean to say is the coaster within the next ten or 15 years will have rules that are strict so they will have to stop running but they will never tear it down.
mrceagle on 2/19/2003 6:51:28 PM said:
What rules are you thinking they are going to put on the ride. they are alot of historic landmakes that ehy still use. IE the constituton ship. If they were to stop runing the Cyclone Coney island would shut down.

But now as more things go wrong with amusement park rides the government is going to end up putting laws out that the cyclone will not be able to abide by so it will end up being shut down but not destroyed.
XtremeFan8 on 2/19/2003 7:24:41 PM said:
The government could care less about roller coasters as of this time!
Cyclonic on 2/19/2003 8:03:09 PM said:
Even IF, and that is a big IF, there were new laws put into place on amusement rides, it would not effect the Cyclone. The Cyclone would be grandfathered in, meaning that it would not need any changes.

A good example of this is in the auto industry. All cars today must be constructed with certain features, like seatbelts and a third brake light. But if you have, say a 48 Studibaker that has neither of these, it is still considered road worthy, because it was constructed before the new features were required by law.

To make such assumtions without first having a working knowledge of how laws work is foolish.

One other thing, if you dont want to see any new laws concerning restricting roller coasters, vote Republican or Libritarian, and stay away from the Democrats. The Democrats are avocates of big government and laws that restrict what you can and cant do (not to mention high taxes).

Well, that is your mini lesson in law and government for today

mrceagle on 2/19/2003 11:14:18 PM said:
ot to mention all the laws beign consederd relate to G forces. the requirment of things like seat deviders and seat belts are the Insurance companys.

Im glad that Black7 mentioned Grandfather-ing - if anything, this is probably what will take place. I cant even imagine the outcry that would result if the city threatened to shut the Cyclone down. I see B&Ms point, though - so many greats were torn down because of skittish insurance companies.
