Review of Boulder Dash @ Lake Compounce
2 Rating Posted by: aleksh on 8/1/2001 11:14:00 PM
Call it a 9.5 Ok Ok Im biased, I prefer woodies, and prefer privately owned amusement parks to the ones owned by 6 flags (home of the three hour line) or any Movie company. Second, being a New Englander, I do admire economy, efficiency, and conservation of resources. This ride has less wood than rides half its size and more screams than rides twice its size (wellmaybe not twise its sixe ..there is a mile of track here ). A true terrain coaster hugging the natural hill shooting through the trees, Very FAST, plenty of air and intense laterals. If you like Kennywoods Thunderbolt, The GE Comet or the Phoenix youll love this one. I want to cume back in a couple of years to see how it does agfter its broken in. Oh one last point, this thing doesnt seem to get a line even though the park was crowded.

hate to break it to ya but Lake Compounce isnt privately owned. Kennywood owns it, bought it in 1995.

ya I got in hear to say the same thing. but Kenny wood strongly kept the ond park charm. its owned by a corperation but you would never know it by walking around.

Kennywood does own it, but Kennywood is not a corperation, they are privately owned and operated.

your right colling them a corperation is not quite right. it is a Entertainment company. they still have more money then a family/privatly owned park.

Even before the Kennywood Entertianment era, I believe that Hershey Entertainment and Resorts (or what ever they called themselves in the 1980s) "managed" the park, but they stepped out when they divested interests out side of Hershey PA in the mid to late 1980s... It was sometime afterthat that Kennywood Entertianment entered the picture.

Haha I know this is a really old review, but I think it is funny how they said they want to come back to see what it was like once it was "broken in." Trust me no you didnt. And depending on how the re-tracking goes, you might not ever want to come back.

*crossing my fingers in hopes the retracking goes well + restores BD to its glory days*

I didnt mind it at all when it was rough, the rougher the better IMO, but even if its not perfect it WILL be more smooth this year, as theyre spending over a million dollars to retrack it.
