Review of Wildcat @ Lake Compounce

My first big roller coaster, and still one of my favorites. To be honest, the fact that this coaster is undeniably rough is the only strong downside. The speed element isn't bad, sure, it's no boulder dash, (but what is?) but it isn't that bad considering it is the third fastest woodie in New England, behind only Boulder Dash and Excalibur (Funtown USA). Wildcat's speed is also not bad considering it was manufactured by Philadelphia Toboggan Company, which also was the manufacturer of Yankee Cannonball at Canobie Lake Park. Yankee Cannonball and Wildcat are the only PTC manufactured coasters in New England, and Yankee Cannonball has a maximum speed of 35 mph, while Wildcat has a maximum speed of 48 mph, a 13 mph difference! So for the reasons listed above, I can't hate on Wildcat's speed. As far as ride qualities go, it only has one real airtime hill, which is the first one. It has little airtime, but it's good airtime, I'm always flying out of my seat on the first hill. The rest of the ride is littered with twists and turns, which are the key culprits for the roughness. Overall, I think Wildcat is a fun, fairly intense ride and if you're a coaster fan at Lake Compounce, be sure to check it out!
