Review of Dollywood Express @ Dollywood

It's been aeons since I've been on this here excursion, probably somewhere in the late 1990s. We didn't ride when we went last month for the first time in well over a decade. But I still remember the ride the way it was then - a relaxing, scenic trip through the borders of the park. There used to be an awesome Western shootout along the way, but given Dollywood's focus on gospel and family and whatnot, I'm not too shocked that this is said to be gone now. Oh well. Another thing of note is that this is not your typical amusement park miniature railway with modern miniature locomotives dressed up to look authentic, this is THE REAL DEAL. You'll get soot everywhere and choked by the smoke. And that's awesome. Given that the last time I went on the train, the park was much smaller than its current state, I would have to go on it again to change the rating; I remember wonderful scenery and open fields with great views of the mountains, and I suspect that some of these open areas are now filled with rides. This takes down the 'scenic' quality a bit, but, hey, RIDES! So it all works out.
