Peter Pan is often regarded as the best of the Fantasyland dark rides and for good reason. However, that is possibly the ride’s Achilles heel as it commonly garners lines of at least 40 minutes in length and usually well over that because of its popularity when combined with its relatively low capacity. Thankfully though, Fastpasses are available for this attraction and I highly recommend that you utilize them. Heck, even the Fastpass line usually has a decent sized wait (10-20 minutes). Just be warned though, they do run out pretty early for Peter Pan so get them early.

After a slow moving wait (in whatever line you may choose), riders board the beautiful looking pirate ship vehicles, which seat only 2 riders (this is the reason for the aforementioned poor capacity). I for one absolutely love the suspended ride vehicles as they provide a neat perspective of viewing while on a dark ride and are a nice change of pace from the norm.

Once dispatched, riders travel on an imaginative journey with Peter Pan and is a faithful adaptation of the feature length film. All of the animatronics are very nice looking considering their age and functioned flawlessly. Just the feeling of flight is maintained wonderfully throughout, especially during the absolutely breathtaking scene where we flew over the city. That effect in particular is absolutely ingenious as the buildings are created to perfect scale and it really seemed like I was flying over London. Really my only complaint with the attraction is its length, especially considering the long, grueling waits for this attraction. The attraction is incredibly short in my opinion, definitely under 3 minutes. Because of this, the last few scenes seemed abrupt and rushed in my opinion.

Nonetheless, despite its rather short length and lengthy queue times, Peter Pan is a classic dark ride and definitely one of the park’s better attractions. Of the Fantasyland dark rides, this is just a notch below Snow White since that one just provides a better all-around experience from beginning to end. Just remember to get a Fastpass in order to enjoy one of the most imaginative and enjoyable, albeit short, of Disney’s dark rides.
