Snow White and the Seven Dwarves will forever remain a classic in American film, notable for being the first full-length animated feature to hit the big screen. However, when many think of Fantasyland dark rides, often times Peter Pan and It’s a Small World jump to the top of the list, and of all the dark rides it’s usually Snow White that gets left out. I for one am one of those people, as I unfortunately never even got around to riding it until my most recent visit this past summer. And boy was it surprisingly good.

Themed to the dwarf mines featured prominently in the film, Snow White resides in Fantasyland and is the dark ride closest to Cinderella’s Castle. Let me say that the exterior looks great and really captures the feel of the film. Generally lines fluctuate from 15-25 minutes in length for pretty much the entire day, and it’s certainly worth the wait. After waiting, you board very cute looking mine carts; each named to one of the 7 dwarves.

Essentially the attraction is a SparkNotes version of the story of Snow White, as the witch, who wants to become the fairest in the land, resorts to poisoning Snow White, the fairest, with the iconic apple. All of the scenes are flawlessly executed and unlike with some of the other dark rides, no scenes seemed left out or condensed. I especially enjoyed the climatic falling boulder scene towards the end that really caught me by my unawares. I’m a sucker for those types of gags! Not only is the ride highly enjoyable, but it is also a pretty good length to boot.

Of all of the Fantasyland dark rides, Snow White is surprisingly my favorite since from beginning to end it is the most entertaining and provides the most fulfilling ride, narrowing edging out Peter Pan. Heck, even though I’m not the biggest fan of the feature film, I still thought that this was a great attraction. I highly recommend that you reserve some time for this underrated Disney classic since it is easily one of the best attractions that the park has to offer.
