Review of The High In The Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride @ Islands of Adventure

Oddly enough, since opening its gates way back in 1999, the only new attraction added to Islands of Adventure has been this unique monorail. In fact, this originally was planned to have opened back during the park’s inaugural year as a totally different attraction, but safety and monetary issues forced this attraction to be placed on the backburner. After a vacant track just towering over Seuss Landing for years, a unique monorail finally replaced the original concept and well, it was worth the wait.

Featuring two twisting tracks winding above Seuss Landing, the Seuss Trolley has a rather poor capacity, leading to rather lengthy waits not being all that uncommon. Thankfully though, it was a walk-on during my visit. However, only one side was operating and the ride was suffering from numerous mechanical issues. Just prior to boarding, the attraction temporarily shut down, and after my ride the attraction shut down for almost the entire day. I don’t know if this was just having a bad day or what.

Well, the ride’s seats are very comfortable and really are more like roller coaster trains than monorail trains. However, I would soon find out why once the ride began, as this was deceivingly quick for a monorail. Instead of traveling at a level path for the entire ride like most monorails, this one featured some gradual drops where the train really picked up some considerable speed. It was definitely a nice change of pace.

Moving past the unique roller coaster like track, the attraction gives some great views of Seuss Landing and along with the rest of the park since it travels right along the park’s gigantic lake for a portion of the ride. Not only does it provide great views of the rest of the park like most monorails, but Universal also incorporated some neat indoor scenes into the attraction that may not seem like much, but in fact they are quite enjoyable and definitely enhance the uniqueness and my enjoyment of this attraction. Along with being a fun, unique attraction, it is also deceptively long despite its appearance.

I would have liked to have experienced this more than once, or at least experienced each side, but the mechanical issues limited my rides to only one. Nonetheless, I had a great time during my one ride as this easily is one of the most unique, enjoyable monorails out there thanks to the great views, indoor scenes, and roller coaster-like track. This definitely is a cool, unique attraction is definitely worth checking out while at the park.

It's nice to see that this ride is working- I visited the park back in '03 and remember seeing the tracks that looked like it should be a ride. Nice to hear they got it working and that it is a quality ride, I'll be sure to go back there next time we're in Orlando! Great review.

A very good attraction, but I totally agree about the wait.

^^ Thank you very much. I'm going through and rewriting all my reviews along with new ones.

^ Like I said this actually had no wait when I chose to ride, but I didn't dare wait later after hearing some nightmarish queue times. What's the longest wait you've seen for this?
