As usual I'.m giving 1001 Nacht a 10 because I love this wonderful machine for who he is. I was to visit this one in late July early August this year. Sadly he was not running. I recieved news from the mechanic, Rick Smith, there that 1001 Nacht was having difficulties with the gearbox. So they put him to rest for the season and will work out the bugs this winter. 1001 Nacht should be ready next spring. In my opinion, contrary to prior comments here, 1001 Nacht is in beautiful condition. Everthing on the ride is original from 1983. The persian paisley styled aluminum panels on the staircases are untouched, the facade on the lower jib is lovely, the paintwork on the upper jib and counterweights are surprisingly devoid of rust, taking the ocean environment into consideration. Everything on him just screams 1980'.s. I love it! Obviously there are things that need to be done. But considering 1001 Nacht'.s environment here and the fact he is 25 years old he has held up very well. A darn fine looking gentleman for his age!
