Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-HAA-ha! Ah good ole Woody Woodpecker. For years that laugh irritated me beyond belief, but I can’t argue that Woody has become an icon in American culture. Dominating the Kid Zone area, Woody Woodpecker fits flawlessly in with the area as that zany bird’s screwball antics and colorful nature translate perfectly to a kid-friendly coaster. Despite the coaster’s status as a standard production model type coaster, Universal themed the ride very well as I’ve come to expect from them, especially the random, loony comments scattered throughout the queue. Thankfully though I didn’t have much time to admire them since there was absolutely no line at all for this during my visit. In fact, I was the only one on the train!

Well the ride is identical to all other Vekoma roller skaters in terms of the ride- a few small drops, twists, and a final helix. And speaking of that final helix, it’s surprisingly forceful for a junior coaster. Overall, the whole ride is quite enjoyable thanks to some gentle forces scattered throughout the ride and the glass-smooth ride it provides. While I know other enthusiasts aren’t very high on these roller skater type coasters, I actually enjoy them more than a lot of other production model coasters like galaxis or the Zierer tivoli coasters.

Inevitably this coaster will be compared to Disney’s Barnstormer. Well both give identical rides, but the Barnstormer triumphs over Woody simply because of the better theming Disney put into theirs. However, this one never has a line like that one; therefore, leading to me giving this one more rides. Still, the Nuthouse Coaster definitely fits the bill for a kid-friendly coaster that is certainly enjoyable for both adults and children thanks to the glass-smooth ride it provides.
