 Review of Phoenix @ Knoebels
0 Rating Posted by: Princess on 9/21/2007 6:36:00 AM
Now, I know I probably will be criticized for this, but the Phoenix isnt as good to me as it is for others. The rides history about being relocated is nice and you cant beat the rides price (I think $2.00). Thats the price of one kiddie ride at the carnivals I go to. Now the trains look nice and even better they have buzz bars. Knoebels moves the line quickly and I have never had to wait more than 15 minutes for a ride. I would have liked if there were seat-belts (I feel more secure). The Phoenix itself was decent. The drops were fun and the hills were good too. Now, I got tons of air-time and that usually makes a good coaster for people. However, I will say it up front that I think air-time is overrated and I dont look upon it as highly as others. Still, the Phoenix provided a good, fun ride. I would have considered giving this a 10 if it werent for the minor rattling I experienced in some of the seats at the bottom of some of the hills. This is one heck of a coaster that air-time lovers cant miss.

I certainly disagree with you about air-time being overrated. That is the crowl jewel of roller coasters. Everyone has their own opinion I guess.

Nice review & I guess we all have different tastes in roller coaster experience, but at least you gave a valid reason for why it gets a 9. Personally, Im a sucker for wooden coasters with a lot of airtime, so Im not really feeling the whole "airtimes overrated" theory. Inversions, IMHO, are the most gimmicky & overrated elements on any coaster.

I cant comment about the inversions as I havent worked up the courage yet to go on any inverting rides. Like I have said in the reviews I have written so far, I look for smoothness and re-rideability.

^That answers my question about why you would want seat belts then.

Haha, if you want seat belts, go to any Cedar Fair park, and they will provide you with just that! In my opinion though, seat belts make all (well, most) coasters more tight and uncomfortable.

I have to hand it to you, Princess - though you arent fond of airtime, you dont hesitate to give this coaster a high rating. Welcome to the site - good to have you here.

Hehehe, I have a good seatbelt story involving the Phoenix and another of our members.

While I do not agree with you on airtime, at least the review is very honest and you give reasons for liking or not liking certain aspects of the coaster, and that makes for a very good review. Keep up the good work.
