Review of Goliath @ Six Flags Magic Mountain
-1 Rating Posted by: shag9004 on 8/31/2007 7:13:00 PM
Date Ridden: July of 2006 and July of 2007. Times Ridden: 2 (2nd from the front and 2nd from the back)

Goliath is a great ride that has one GIANT problem. It is located at one of the most rude and obnoxious locales in which to ride coasters. I am going to do my best to keep this review of this wonderful ride away from MM bashing but there are just a few things I have to say. First, do something about line-cutting. Setting up 15 year old kids handing out tickets that are not checked once you get on the ride does not stop it. While waiting in line at Goliath there were over two dozen teens who just walked past the line, through the trees, climbed up on the giant foot, and skipped everyone all the way to the front. There was nothing done about it as they intimidated the ride ops into letting them all on. People were going nuts but no one with any authority seemed to care. More than likely, I have visited MM for the last time. I missed out on the Deja Vu credit but oh well, Ive ridden it here in good old GA. I have been to virtually every 6 flags park around the country in the past 18 months and this one (while having some great coasters) was no doubt the absolute worst. I almost got high off of secondary marijuana smoke in the mens bathroom......waits on all the rides were ridiculous...blah blah. Anyway (venting over now), Goliath itself is a super smooth hyper coaster with a wonderful signature element (helix) and a superbly themed queue (when people werent trampling everything down). I was looking forward to more rides on it this past summer, but once we made it through the line we were ready to go. Goliath gets a solid 9 from me but its not really good enough to want to go back any time soon. From now on Ill stick to Knotts.
