Review of Twist & Shout @ Canobie Lake Park
-1 Rating Posted by: Canobie Coaster on 6/7/2007 6:32:00 PM
Worst tilt-a-whirl Ive been on by far. The ride looks great and all of the cars have vibrant paint jobs, but thats all the ride has going for it. Lines usually are slow-moving and way too long for a tilt-a-whirl. This is thanks to the usual low capacity of tilt-a-whirls. To make it worse, the ride was just plain horrible as well, as the cycle was around 45 seconds long. Thats way too short! Even worse was the fact that my tub didnt spin at all during my ride, creating a very dull and lackluster ride experience that wasnt worth my wait. I know tilt-a-whirls can be pot-luck in regards to which ride you get, but I have been on this 2 times and never gotten good rides.

But dose it really deserve a 2? you got a bad ride and that normally isnt the case. I have also had the occasional bad ride on many tilt a whirls. Hopefully you can catch the park on a slow or moderately crowded day and give these another shot. Not to mention all tilt a whirls tend to operate better with more then one rider.

Its not just the non-spinning, Twist & Shout had the very short cycle when I rode it like many of Canobies other flat rides on my trip earlier this year and its just not nearly as good as many other flat rides there. Because I didnt have fun on my one ride, its a 2 for now. I probably will give it another chance and if it gives a good ride Ill reflect that with my rating.

Understandable. Its a double edge sword People want Canobie to keep these old rides but get upset that the cycles are short. They sort of need to be to help with capacity. Maybe in time when the park has a few more high Capacity rides to help with crowds the cycles will be lengthened.

Their rumored new wooden coaster definitely would help with capacity.

As woudl any coaster Family sized and up. Spending a half million of Reworking the brakes on Cannonball to mags like LC did and running two trains. A replacement for Matterhorn that has a similar 1000 pph capacity. while the replaced rides have been upgrades Capacity wise adding some rides to areas were no ride sites now will add even more capacity to the park.

True. And you mentioned the Yankee Cannonball having their brakes redone, are they doing that next year? If so that would be exceptional.

Not that I know of. Not that i havent been pushing them. unfortunately things didnt go smoothly with LCs redo so I cant use thunderbolt right now as an example. But many of the new rides have had High capacity or higher capacity then what they replaced. but operantly they arent sure what they will do next year.

^ Dont you mean the Wildcat. Anyway, true that Canobie at least is replacing lower capacity rides with higher capacity rides.

yes i was talking to some one just before this reply about getting thunderbolt to 2 train operation as well. Canobie in all needs to up there coaster count to 6. I personally wish they should add a medium to low end Family coaster in the old Matterhorn spot and along the back of the carousel. There is easily 70X40-50 ft behind the carousel and fusible space were the Matterhorn stood is 72X 150-180 ft

What type of coaster do you think Canobie would add there? A spinning wild mouse might be the best choice.

A spinning coaster would look like they were Copying SFNE. A Mack E-motion car coaster. maybe something using Maurer Sohnes new X car. but if they got a spinning coaster I woudl want a mack for capacity. but not a wild Mouse at least not a standard one. Canobie needs a Custom Coaster not found anywhere in the north east.

Another thing is that because of Canobies height restriction, a lot of designs cant be used, which is too bad. I would enjoy an X-coaster there, but I thought that a new looping coaster would replace the Corkscrew if and when it was removed. Also, where is the new himalaya rumored to go.

They offer the X-car as a 2-3 car X train. I think they could have a wild Twister design made with the plan to use a couple 2-3 car x cars though at that point maybe your better off using the e-motion coaster and a coaster that is not even in the US. would draw allot of attention.

responding back to your review. Im trying to figure out your 45 second ride. I video taped my ride closing day and the ride is actually a bit over the minute and a half. So I hope you make a point to reride this attraction because the ride you got was not normal
