Review of Splash Mountain @ Disneyland Park

Out of all the rides in all the parks I have been to this must be one of the best. Last time I went to Disneyland about 5 months ago I rode this ride 7 times! The line was only 5 minutes about 5 of those times, so I got really lucky. Anyways, the real review is below.

The line is nothing special, you go through a large house and cave, but it is a pretty boring line, and some parts are uncomfortable. For example, there is a part where you stand on stairs to get into the house, and getting stuck there is not fun at all. The cave area is a bit better, but still lacks anything great. The ride however makes up for this.

Soon after boarding the ride, you get taken up two large lifts. I rode most of the seats within my 7 times, and it does not make much of a difference. The front is most fun because there is an unobstructed view, but all give the same experience. After the lifts there is a lazy drift downriver and a tiny drop. If people are screaming on this puny thing plug your ears on the big one!

Upon entering the actual room where the animatronics are located I am always taken aback by the amount that there are. A cheery soundtrack plays, and all the "animals" make appropriate movements. A surprise waits, but I wont spoil it for you. The atmosphere is great, and drifting down the river is very enjoyable.

That rabbit that is the main character fools the fox and the bear that are after him a few times but he is eventually caught and the cheeriness changes instantly to a grim, slow tune. I cant help but laugh at the weasel with rolling eyes though, "that rabbits facin certain death..." My friend and I laughed like idiots over it, it is our favorite part. Now comes the accent to the top of the drop. This is stressful because the drop seems much higher than it turns out. The drop is short, but it is the only ride in Disneyland that gave me any thrill. Space Mountain and the Matterhorn Bobsleds failed to move me, but all seven times Splash Mountain caught me off guard. For a flume ride this sure does drop!

The rest is all happy again, and the rabbit comes back home in that classic Disney ending. You also get to see your picture, but sometimes it is deleted due to people doing...stuff. All in all, my favorite ride in Disneyland, and it is a ride that proves that animation can be as enjoyable as some coasters.
