Review of Splash Mountain @ Magic Kingdom

This is easily the best, most elaborate flume Ive been on. The ride incorporates several drops, and the animatronics are first rate. The catchy song would not leave my head, but not in a bad way. The story is somewhat hard to follow, but after a few rides it kinda makes sense. I love how long this attraction is. I do think its weird that Disney made this attraction based on a movie that they cannot release in the US. But, having seen the film recently from a download, I completely understand why they refuse to release "Song of the South".

The DVD is available, though not through Disney, if you are interested just Google "Song of the South"

Yeah, Ive already seen the movie. After watching it a few times, Im starting to think that Disney is being overly cautious in not releasing in the US. The movie is essentially about a friendship between a young white boy and a kindly, crafty old black man. Not exactly a racist theme.

I agree. Not much different than "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer". And every high schooler since the beginning of time reads that.

Er, I think youre thinking of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

Actually, no I was not! "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" written by Mark Twain in 1876 is exactly what I meant. You dont remember Aunt Pollys slave Jim and the way he is portrayed in the book. You really only have to go to Chapter I to see what I mean. The way he talks and acts. "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" was written in 1884 by the same Mark Twain.
