Review of Thunderhawk @ Dorney Park
1 Rating Posted by: coaster05 on 2/19/2007 5:18:00 PM
A very surprising ride on my sole trip to Dorney. APPEARANCE-7 I just didnt care for its location or the overused name. Still looked in pretty good shape. CAPACITY-7 Above average but nothing amazing. RIDE QUALITY-9 The massive trim brake at the end is annoying, but the ride had lots of air throughout and gave a great Wooden ride. no roughness to speak of unless you are a Sally. FUN-9 H ad a great time with the people I was at the park with. RERIDE-10 Probably number 1 on my reride list since we were working the park pretty fast. OVERALL-42 AVG-8.4 I am going 8, but I could see a 9 with a reride or better capacity.

I got some crazy air on this. I agree with you I hate the trim brake at the end.

Yep that last massive brake was my only real complaint.

I agree with your score...I always thought that this coaster was under-rated or just overlooked. A classic example of a Herb Schmeck/PTC out-and-back. Lots of air and lots of fun. The trolley that used to bring patrons to the park decades ago ran parallel to the coaster (which was named simply "Coaster") where the main entrance used to be. It originally did not have the twister-type turnaround, but was a straight OAB. Cedar Fair should bring back Alfundo!

this is one of the first generally positive reviews of this coaster ive read. pretty encouraging, actually. the overall impression one always gets is that its neutered by the brakes.

Nice review coaster05. Thunderhawks really not that bad of a coaster if you know where the rough spots are. Whenever I come across a fast turn, Ill lean my body towards the opposite direction so I wont slam my body towards the train. Its fun nevertheless & the airtimes relentless & abundant.

I havent been on it recently, but Ive long thought that the T-hawk tends to be overlooked and under-appreciated. Glad to see you enjoyed it, coaster05.

I still like the ride, but it just is no where near what it used to be.
