Review of The Sea with Nemo & Friends @ EPCOT

They did a pretty good job with what they had to work with, but I really dislike the idea of devoting an entire Future World pavilion to a Pixar movie. Thats not what Epcot or Future World is supposed to be about. Every other Future World pavilion deals with innovations and achievements of mankind, and then theres this, a ride about Finding Nemo. It would fit in much better at The Magic Kingdom, since its more or less just a re-telling of the movie, like the Fantasyland rides.

Again, there wasnt really much they could do with the Seas pavilion, but the ride could have been more than just a retelling of the movie. Its just another example of the current trend of sacrificing the themes of the parks/lands just to capitolize on the popularity of a Pixar movie.

Magic Kingdom? I think it would go better at animal kingdom with the finding nemo stage show. Just a thought.

They didnt have enough for small kids to enjoy at Epcot. I understand where you are coming from, but the business side has had to make changes over the last few years to what Epcot "is" in order to keep the turnstiles spinning. While us Disney fans may be left wondering what Epcot really stands for now compared to the original vision, the bottom line has been positively affected due to the recent changes. The Living Seas wasnt really interesting to adults or kids before. The aquarium was becoming outdated by todays standards. Turtle Talk, and now this move, has injected life into a dead pavilion. I can sacrifice one essentially dead pavilion to the kiddies in order to keep Epcot healthy overall. Eventually we will get something more Epcot-like to replace the other dead pavilion...Wonders. My vote goes to a weather pavilion and a new ride that puts you in different weather predicaments.

I like the weather idea. Maybe something will happen in 2008 since it epocts 25th year.

Also, I think a weather pavilion would be relevant to the times. With global warming and the destructive weather patterns it can bring being such a hot topic right now, it could be a very educational pavilion from that perspective. It would open up some cool ride possibilities as well.

Good points, Pete. Also, I guess youre right in that Nemo would be better at Animal Kingdom... I dont really see why they need two attractions devoted to Finding Nemo, but whatever.

Actually, when you think about it, the whole aquarium really should be at AK now that Disney has a park devoted to live animals.

^ But remember, the Seas pavilion was built long before they even had plans for DAK.

Oh, of course.

This redo bothered me a whole lot. Adding Nemo wasnt bad. The bad part was taking out the education from the pavilion. Now in the aquarium they dont really tell you anything. Its pretty bad when parents are telling their kids to look at Crush. Shouldnt they be pointing out the loggerhead turtle? Or even worse, to look at the shark when a dolphin swims by. Back in the living seas you at least had signs helping you identify the stuff in the tanks. Now its nothing but Nemo...
