Review of Rolling Thunder @ Six Flags Great Adventure

I had been on the road for a long, time, I had been to Kennywood, Lakemont and Hershey, this was my last stop. All of said parks have a great line up of wood coasters. I had yet to meet a wood coaster I hated. Then I got on Rolling Thunder.I always try to give wood coasters the benefit of the doubt, no matter how bad they may be, but I just cant on this one. This is my first time I ever thought about something else besides roller coasters while I was still one it! I was not around for when the park was not owned by Six Flags but Im sure it was much better then. The layout looks like it would be fun, but it just has no speed, and it doesnt race. I mean comeone Six Flags step up and help this old woodie Its a RACING coaster!. Ugh as of right now I wouldnt care if it just fell over and by the looks and sounds of it, its not too far off.

Welcome to the site. Yes, it used to be much better (not great but much better) in its day, but for the record it was installed by the Original Six Flags regime. Six Flags bought the park in 1978 and RT was operational in 79

True, I think since six flags bought it the only coaster that was there then that is still around today is the Run Away Mine Train.

After reading many of your other reviews I cant understand well you didnt love Rolling Thunder. it is rough as hell and you say you love rough wooden coasters.

Yeah like when I compare it to the Wild Cat (LC) they are both very similure, I was just so disapointed with it, from the walk way it looked fun, but then it was just...such a let down. I think that it was that in additon to being rough, loud, and air-timeless it was also slow, so it had no reason to be rough, atleast the Wild Cat, Cyclone, Skyliner, etc, are fast and rough.
