Review of Pteranodon Flyers @ Islands of Adventure

Its pretty much just worth the credit - rules against riding when you are an adult, and terrible capacity team with a really short and weak layout to make this a terribly boring ride. Thank god I happened to be the first back in the section of the park that day, and did not have to wait in line nor steal a kid.

How exactly did you get on then?

If you go within the first hour of the park opening, the rules are relaxed.

I would personally rather get a ride on Hulk to start the day off with a bang as opposed to running to the farthest point in the park to get a credit on a kiddie coaster...but thats me. Although I have a feeling that you may feel the same way after your circuit on Pteranodon.

Thanks, but let me make my own decisions. Ive been to the park about 10 times now and recorded twice as many laps on Hulk, I had no problem starting my day at the back this time - of course you wouldnt know this, but I then continued on to ride Dragons nearly 10 times before there was a 2-train wait. So yea, I got my credit, rode Hulk one or two times later in the day, and all is happy in my world. Sorry you feel the need to bash those of us who like credits

Oh, I dont pretend to make your decisions for you - to be perfectly honest, I didnt even know when your trip was. And I also have no problem with credits, or at least have not mentioned anything directly in this area. Bashing? I really didnt say anything negative about you or anyone else in regard to getting credits...as I recall, I simply stated that I didnt see the point in going all the way up to Pteranadon right off the bat in order to get a credit when there are so many better rides right near the entrance. Perhaps you are inferring this fact? Granted, we have grappled on this issue in the past, and I believe you know my stance on this subject already. For me, preservation of the integrity of the coaster count is important. I dont like to see counts inflated with many kiddie coasters - it just seems juvenile to me. But this is all my opinion, of course, not aimed at changing anyone elses habits, and was not directly stated in here until now, so, referring back to the above, it seems as though you transferred these feelings of mine into this comment section quite on your own accord in this case. Response?

Bull, you have made several "anti-whoring" statements over times, and I read this one as another one in discuise. Kiddie coasters are coasters too!! I think Im gonna start the "kiddie coaster appreciation club" because of you LOL

Over time, yes, but I already admitted that. And I didnt say anything specifically here, although your guess of "one in disguise" is getting warmer.

Again, if you are into kiddie coasters and such, great. Im not that big of a fan of them. There is one observation that I would like to make though - most of the time, you rarely mention that you are riding kiddie coasters for the fun, but rather for the credit, as in Pteranadon here. I wouldnt have so much of a problem with people (including others than just you, certainly) riding so many kiddie coasters if they put more emphasis on the ride itself rather than the credit. One sees plenty of reviews for kiddie coasters by regulars in the community these days, and yet they continue to be surprised and disappointed that they do not provide a stellar ride. This leaves them with only one aim - getting credits. That, in summary, is my biggest issue with this practice, and as I said, you are far from the only one who does it, so please do not take my comments to be strictly aimed at you.

I dont think anyone expects the rides to be fantastic - yes, they are mostly for a credit, but there also is something funny about riding the kiddie coasters and enjoying them more than the kids. Especially when you load up the entire train with adults and do crazy crap like high fives around the turns. And when Im alone? I like to take POV videos - everyone loves the videos of the big ol B&Ms and such, why slap kiddie coasters like that? Well at least Ill represent them =)

I can sort of see the appeal there - part of the reason I probably dont realize the fun that can be had with kiddie coasters is that I rarely go to parks with anyone other than my family. And even there, now that I think about it, we do enjoy riding Flying Unicorn, mine trains, etc. when we go to parks. I still wouldnt go to a small little off-the-beaten path park just to ride a kiddie coaster, but I suppose I dont shy away from them when theyre available. That being said, I still have never ridden Spacelys Sprocket Rockets at SFGAm in all my visits there, and probably never will.

Ive never gone out of my way just for a kiddie coaster.. have I stopped along side the road when I see a little park? Yea. Also I would do the Sprocket Rockets if they were at my homepark simply because I do everything at my homepark... I mean Ive done everything at IOA now too, except the Sinbad show which Ive never been able to catch =/

There are actually a lot of things at GAm that Ive never done - which probably doesnt earn me any points in your book, but I dont really care. It would be kind of cool, granted, to see everything, although it would mean doing a fair amount of flats, which I have never been a big fan of. I would have to go numerous times to get on everything too, and seeing as Im still about 1 hour away and I do have work and school...yeah, probably not going to happen.
