Review of Yankee Cannonball, The @ Canobie Lake Park
0 Rating Posted by: larrygator on 9/7/2006 3:18:00 PM
I didnt consider Yankee Cannonball worthy of my 45 minute wait. It is slow and not very forceful. I sat in the first row of the last car and quite frankly would have given it another shot from the front of the train if the queue wasnt so bad. I did not experience much air, just a smidgen on the first drop nor did I find it rough as others have said.

Thats strange that you didnt experience much air, as I usually am flying out of my seat. I think you just got a bad ride.

I too am surprised at your ride normally the air time is much better then that. I agree that the wait has become way too long. dont expect to see that fixed for 2007 but with all hope they will fix it in 2008. but the only way to fix it is to switch out the brakes for fins.

Larry, I am beginning to think that woodies we dont ride together dont deliver when I am not there. This is the second pretty good woodie that has been a dissapointment for you(viper SFGAM). Course nothing could save Megaphobia.

Viper was far superior to this coaster

^agreed, but I still had two really fun rides on Yankee, course compared to most of the other rides in the park this would seem really good.

Viper as in the Cyclone Clone at SFGAm? While I can agree Cyclones are a bit more exciting there also two very referent styles of coaster. not to mention Cannonball was 60 when that coaster was constructed. But i insist that you both come together to ride all the rides at Canobie.

My two favorite roller coasters are over 60 years old (CI Cyclone and Phoenix) so age has no bearing. My ride on Yankee Cannonball was not that good. PERIOD. I will only go to Canobie again if I know the crowds will be light. I enjoyed tripping over strollers more at Disneyland and bruising my shins than having kids running into me at Canobie.

coaster05 - yes, Viper at SFGAm was a disappointment but it still recieved an 8 rating from me

I get your point. Crowds are hard to Judge I took 2 trips mid weeks on days that should have been slower but they were anything but. Hopefully next year will be better but I dont think the midway traffic will go down until they have a couple more major rides to pull people in line. Hopefully the two rides they add next year will help with that. Do I have the correct viper though?

What other wooden Viper at Six Flags Great America do you think they are talking about?

And if you like Canobie so much, why do you not want it to be crowded? That means the park is doing good business.

Im more referring to the fact that The judging is a Cyclone Clone(more wild style) compared to an out and back. if they had said I likes GASM at SFOG better It would be different. Similar style out and back coasters. Maybe its because I look at coaster styles and judging that range. which is why Im willing to give a kiddie coaster a higher rating them most people.

AS for The park being busy I have no problem with that. But Matterhorn had a Structural problem come up and was down all year. thats one ride that have a 1,200 pph capacity and is very popular not operating. So those visitors were in line for Cannonball and other rides or in the midway. I mentioned "Hopefully the two rides they add next year will help with that." What I mean by that is the Frisbee Coming in along with the Ride replacing Matterhorn with all hope will draw some people away from Cannonball lowering its long line. I like the fact that Canobie was very Busy and that many of the people that added to the crowds were basically Ex SFNE loyalists.
