Review of Mean Streak @ Cedar Point
0 Rating Posted by: jdale on 8/13/2006 11:18:00 AM
OK, this ride turned out to be a joke when I rode it. Im not one to worry about the brakes on the big drop, but everything else is so slow. I found barely any airtime, hence the fact that most turns and hills are very high up. Not only that, but this ride is rough!! I never really cared about roughness before, but this ride changed that. The ride was baloney. At least its part of my track record.

ok to ALL people who ride wood coasters. ITS GOING TO BE ROUGH! and dont you look at roughness? on a wood coaster i dont care about air time or roughness.

Not all wood coasters are rough. There are some that have some rattle and shake and stuff like that, but roughness is just pure roughness. There are differences.

Also B&MRULES!, dont forget that there are some woodies out there thatre as smooth as a modern steel coaster. Lightning Racer at Hersheyparks definitely a fine example of that category. Also, Knoebels Pheonix & Twister are reasonably smooth woodies too. It all depends on how the park maintains its state of condition & maintenance.

i know i have been on ozark wildcat and trust me for a woodie it was preety smooth. not up to steel standreds but still good. most wood coasters are going to be rough and its hard to fix that. To fix roughness i think they have to put a coat of some stuff on the track for woodies. so imagine you having to walk all of mean streak with this paint like stuff and having to put it on the stell strips on the track and then have 15 other coasters to mantain and take careof. i know cedar point has alot of people to do this but cedar point is often so busy they dont have time to make it smooth

Mean Streak is beyond rough though.

like how rough?

Like a rough that you havent experienced, which is why you are arguing the points that are being made.
B&MRULES! on 12/9/2006 10:47:44 PM said:
even rougher than the slcs?
Hercules on 12/9/2006 11:21:36 PM said:
I dont really know from first hand experience as I have not ridden the coaster, but based on my knowledge of Curtis Summer designed wooden coasters I would say that it is really rough at this point in time even with all of the trim brakes that Cedar Point have placed on it. However, I cant say it is as back at SLCs because I am not one to compare a wooden coaster with an inverted steel coaster.

thats true. thanks for being my friend its nice to have someone to talk to here. Any way its hard to imagine a coaster being that rough

I actually did not really notice any roughness as I rode the entire ride turned around talking with my sister. It has become worlds biggest kiddie woodie.
B&MRULES! on 12/10/2006 7:53:55 PM said:
ok first off it does not look like a kiddie coaster and second if you dident find any roughness than how did you herc?
Hercules on 12/10/2006 7:57:24 PM said:
I told you, I havent ridden the ride. I am just going off of what people have said and the fact that it is a Curtis Summers wooden coaster. I have heard about the roughness before and after the trim brakes that have been installed. I guess the trims have just killed it and made it really slow in the eyes of coaster05.

He didnt man the kiddie coaster thing literally.

Hey B&M they are called opinions lots of people have them and the amazing thing is they are all different. I called it a kiddie woodie because it has less force then the Beastie, or ghoster coaster, or fairly odd parents, or whatever it is they call that at PKI this month.
B&MRULES! on 12/11/2006 6:02:32 PM said:
serously? wow thats sad. and also i cant tell online sarcysum.
coaster05 on 12/11/2006 10:16:07 PM said:
It wasnt really sarcasm as a 160 foot woodie would never fit in the kiddie coaster catergory, it was more like an obvious joke, but no problem, not a big deal at all.
B&MRULES! on 12/12/2006 9:23:35 AM said:
true i cant believe that a huge woodie wouldent have any force. every coaster had some force. powder keg too much on the lunch. wildfire with that huge drop. im not going to go on.
