Review of Tennessee Tornado @ Dollywood
0 Rating Posted by: woofboy111 on 7/13/2006 1:32:00 AM
It was a decent coaster. Actually much better than I expected. I was actually thinking that this would be a corkscrew coaster, until I actually saw the layout. The track was suprizingly smooth, and the drop into the tunnel was totally unexpected. The butterfly move was lots of fun too, but the entire ride was way too short, although what was in the ride was some good stuff. I also wish they would have used both trains instead of only one train on the entire track. It takes a while even if the line is short like this.

I have always seen them only use one train. The other one, the Blue train, is always in the shed that you pass through in the beginning of the ride.

I did notice that the train in the shed looked a bit dusty. Like it had been sitting in there for years and nobody bothered to send it through the ride once in a while, or even dust it off. Tools were scattered all over the floor surrounding the train, so I was thinking it probably has some problems...

Sometimes I see the train covered with a tarp. I think the only time they have used it was Tennessee Tornados first year. After that it was hardly ever used again. Either the train is broken and theyve been trying to fix it for who knows how long or they like using the other train because the paint on it looks more like a mine car.

I didnt notice that the trains were different colors. I guess I assumed they were both the same.

The other one is blue. It looks like the color of this site actually. Maybe a little lighter.

Actually, both trains are the same rusty color. The only difference is that #2 still has the Dollywood logo on the front(http://www.rcdb.com/ig534.htm?picture=13), and on #1 it was painted over(http://community.webshots.com/photo/315389819/1315395230054618143hkpXOi). They are both operational, and are rotated during the season for maintenance. While not often, they still run both...last July I saw it twice. Its just not necessary most of the time.

Your first site sent me to Six Flags Marine World and I tried it twice.
The reason I say that it is blue is this...

The track is a different color in your picture than it currently is. Heres a picture I took last week. Both the train and track are a brown color. I am pretty sure that the train that was parked in the building was the same color as well.

Hyperlinks can be put in by putting in HTML codes for links. The code goes like this, but with no spaces before and after the angle brackets: < a href="website address" > What you want link to say < /a >

Thanks for telling me about hyperlinks. As I said earlier Im going to Dollywood on Friday and will try to snap a quick picture of the train in the shed while on the ride. Maybe I just never look at the train correctly since its in a shed.

nyeboy9, the train in the picture does look blue, but its actually just the reflecting the blue sky. That pic was probably taken the year the ride opened when the trains were polished up.
