Review of Goliath @ Six Flags Over Georgia

Apologies to Larry. Goliath is what my home park has been waiting years for. Long before Superman arrived, a hypercoaster was the *in* rumour. In late March, after watching it ride above the Georgia Scorcher and the parks entrance, I finally got to give the bad boy a shot. Initial impressions - I liked it. A lot. But thought it was 3rd in the chain of B&M hypers. Try explaining that to a couple of friends who absolutely loved the ride. As the ride wore in a bit, I gained a greater appreciation of it. Its now one of my absolute top-level steel coasters. Goliath delivers a great ride - the first drop is steep and short but it gives some nice floater. The next two hill follow up with much the same. I especially love the dive and turn over the parkway, excellent visuals both on the ride and driving into the park. The helix is where its at baby. When running well, the ride steams into the helix and produces some killer Gs by the time it gets to the bottom. Sadly, this is where it meets a trim. Normally I am not a huge trim-hater, and even now I have no problem, but it is worth noting that in early July it was really gripping hard. I hope they didnt turn it down a notch or two. Anyways, the banked turn is cool and all but not something I care for, and the ride finishes strong with a nice set of semi-ejector air over the brake run of the GA Scorcher. Overall, a tremendous ride that is just a great fit fo the park. We are blessed to have recieved it when we did, and I am grateful for this ride. Now, only if they didnt have to remove two other rides for it

Yeah BobFunland. You usually send in amazing coaster reviews, & of all coasters, I definitely expected you to type in like a really huge paragraph of how much you loved Goliath considering that its locations at your home park, SFOG.

Eh, he is too big of a celebrity these days I think the key to this is "still trying to decide how much I like it". Maybe when he figures it out, he will write something good.

LOL Im just really trying to figure out where in my top 5 it sits - and if you notice, this got a 10 here but only a 9 on my site. The ride keeps growing on me, it wasnt an instant smash in my mind. My original review can be found over at www.coasterenthusiast.com but that too will change. If anything, this has hurt Nitros standing.

Geez, after reading all these great reviews on Goliath, Im going to try my hardest to get down there and ride this thing!!! From the videos, it looks like it really tears over the bunny-hills

I was thinking all along that this thing will beat out Nitro, but Nitro is "my boy". I think it is going to be more based on a "home park" kind of thing when I ride this next year to decide which one is better. This is really going to have to blow Nitro out of the water to top Nitro in my mind.

^ Its a close call for me too. Though, the more I ride, the more I forget about Nitro Look where Mind Bender has ended up :-o

I have ridden Goliath a few times now, and I firmly believe it is the best B&M hyper out there. While the first drop may lack compared to the others, the second drop is 175 feet tall, which I believe it the largest of any B&M. By the bottom of the third hill this thing is flying, and the helix is just great. There is an intensity to this ride, and in the back the airtime holds it own against the top in the country.

I, too, think it edges out Apollos and Nitro, and just flat kills Raging Bull.
