Review of Policy Pond Log Flume @ Canobie Lake Park
1 Rating Posted by: ibluv on 12/17/2005 12:15:00 AM
This is the best log flume I have ridden so far. The capacity is unbelievable: up to six boats fit in the station at once, causing the lines to move super-fast. The location is excellent as well: the loading station is in an actual 19th century sawmill and the ride through the woods is very picturesque, not to mention two great drops.

How did your line move super-fast? I had over an hour wait. What day of the week, time of year (month), and time of day did you ride this? You were lucky!

I think what he is talking about is the fact the line keeps moving. You dont stop and wait for the next train to come up, get stopped by the brake, load, make sure the other side is clear, and leave the station. You only have to pause while the boat advances to a safe distance. Also I the middle of the season there are more boats operating.

I went at the end of August, on a Monday. In the early afternoon there was about a 20 minute wait for this ride. The park wasnt too crowded and the longest I waited was 30 min for the Cannonball. I have a feeling most of the kiddies were back in school by then.

I agree with Yoshi this wait was awful. Very hot and very slow course when you let singles ride a flume what do you expect.

In 2004 when I went, there was a guy standing outside who told you how long the wait was on a Tuesday. When I checked first thing, the line was over 90 minutes. Despite how this is a great ride, it isnt worth a 90 minute wait. Next year, maybe Ill try going on a Monday in the end of August.

I went during the week and the line was still 50 minutes+. CL is a great park but is not great at capacity.

Well Canobie has allot more boats then they have had on the last two years. they were repainting and referbing them. Hopefully they will have all 16 boats on next year.

MRC is was not the amount of boats, it is letting people go single. I understand not riding with strangers, but letting a family of four have three boats is ridiculous. Plus they do have the sign about full boats.

I know that has beena problem the last couple years. I have seens a few Employees that pay attention and fill the boats as much as they can. I have seen too many others that like you said let too many boats go out with one or two people. They need to start filling the boats as much as posible.

Actually, I think mrceagle is right because when I went in 2001 and before, the park had a wait no longer than 30 minutes ever, even on Saturday when I went. Hopefully next year all the boats will be ready to be used because I too noticed they were missing a lot the last two years. Half were gone.

Ive mentioned it a couple times to managers and owners. I have also said the same thing aobut MoLS. they have had cars missing from that ride also.

Except for the Cannonball I didnt notice much of a problem with capacity when I went. Some kids were back in school and there were thunderstorms in the forecast, but I was still kinda surprised, as Lake Compounce operates at full capacity during the end of August, even on weekdays, and CT is not as much of a tourist draw as NH.

Im sure if Canobie had a season pass you would see alot more peopel during the week late season.
Canobie Coaster on 12/19/2005 6:21:36 AM said:
Maybe thats why Canobie doesnt have season passes, to prevent rides like Policy Pond Log Flume, Mine of Lost Souls, Yankee Cannonball, and more from having lines even more unbearable.

OR you can get the cars that are available on the rides and bring the capacity up to some thing that is managable.

That still sucks for the people who live in the area who want to go like every week, and can only afford to go like twice a year.
mrceagle on 12/20/2005 2:10:26 PM said:
I would be one of them. back in 2001 I went 16 times in a year. With the price raiseing I was only able to go 5 last year. as the price keeps raising its geting harder and harder to go maltiple times. Not to mention If I had a season pass I would go more often. Allot of after 5 visits. and I would end up baying mroe food and posible play a few games. I rarly buy fod any more and I never play the games.
