Review of Disneyland Railroad @ Disneyland Park

Im not generally a huge fan of train rides, but I have to give the Disneyland Railroad credit for being such an integral part of Disneyland since opening day, with the "All aboard" greeting guests right at the entrance. I generally dont use the railroad as transportation, as by the time you wait for the train, board, travel, and disembark, you could have just as quickly have walked there. I like to take it for a round trip to rest for a bit and look at the sights. You get a descent view of Splash Mountain, Its a Small World, some of New Orleans Square, Mickeys Toontown, and Tomorrowland. I prefer, though, the more classic experiences of the ride, the really old exhibits that make me nostalgic for the days when Walt Disney presided over the attractions. There are some animal figures set up amongst the trees as the train chugs through the jungles of Adventureland, as well as along the back side of the Rivers of America in Frontierland. My hands-down favorite parts of the train ride, though, are the Grand Canyon and Primeval World exhibits. These are such incredibly cheesy but incredibly classic Disneyland experiences. They are quite like the nature dioramas that you would find set up at a natural history museum. The Primeval World exhibit, though, is populated by animatronics rather than simply "taxodermied" specimens as is the Grand Canyon. Begin your ride at the Main Street station and stay on for a round trip, so this will be the climax of the ride.
