Review of Toboggan @ Conneaut Lake Park

Absolutely horrible, although this is my first toboggan ride it holds nostalgia for me. I remember seeing the Twin Toboggans on my childhood visits to HersheyPark, but was never able to ride. Mom was afraid of heights and dad was afraid of spinning.

The cars are in bad shape. I get in and they close the cage and in front of me is a spider web on the cage. The top of the cage, which is lightly padded, rests on my head, and Im only 56". The car start going up the tube with the car perpendicular to the ground so Im on my back looking skyward. We the car gets to the top it makes a long, slow, uneventful, counter clock-wise turn around the tube 5 or 6 times. Then you approach a spine compressing bunny hop. Ouch! You pull into the station and run away as quick as possible cursing the ride. Sorry Toboggan, you dont even warrant any bouns points for nostalgia.

Well the one at Lakemont is much better, Im reviewing the parks in the order I went to them. I just finished CLP and Kennywood is next. I dont feel as much like a credit whore feel riding this one as the coaster gods punished me physically versus the kiddie coasters. I seriously doubt you could fit into one of these, but I did not see a height restriction sign.

The one at Lakemont is much better? Good Lord! I rode Lakemonts in 2002 and, unless it has been rehabed, I thought it was some sort of long lost torture device left over from the Spanish Inquisition. I would hate to experience the one at Conneaut Lake if it was worse than Lakemonts! The one at Trimpers Rides in Ocean City is just as "boring", but at least more comfortable as the padding seems thicker than Lakemonts. As for the Twin Toboggans at Hersheypark... I rode them back around 1978 (one of their last seasons at the park). I dont remember the details from 27 years ago, but I do not recall them being "painful". Could have been because of a few factors: 1) being 1978, they were probably newer 2) level of maintenance at Hershey compared to Conneaut, Lakemont and Trimpers, 3) I was younger and smaller and fit into the cars better and (probably the most important) 4) I didnt know any better. I do recall in Lakemonts and Trimpers I had the nagging question in my brain... What if the chain and roll backs fail? I didnt think of such things in 1977 (again... I didnt know any better).

I guess it is strange using the word "better" and toboggan so lets just say that the one at Conneaut Lake is WORSE

Saying that one Toboggan is better than another is like asking "which would you rather do, be hit by a train or be hit by a truck?"

I went on the one at Lakemont and passed out, I am severely claustrophobic.
