Review of Boulder Dash @ Lake Compounce
6 Rating Posted by: coaster05 on 9/5/2005 12:48:00 PM
Another member of my super six which means they are all so close it is hard to really have a best. APPEARANCE-10 This thing is absolutely amazing. The use of scenary, the lift up the mountain, the design over rocks. The station is very cool and the path up to it and away is all top notch. Maybe my favorite looking coaster. CAPACITY-8 I was really not liking the wide path lets all push together thing. Then since you choose front or back so early it causes some stalls to be almost empty. RIDE QUALITY-10 It is definately my favorite terrain coaster since the Beast seems so much slower these days. The only thing that kept this from jumping up to the top of my list was no air on the double down. That was just so weird it looked like there should be air but nope. FUN-10 Wow pretty much sums it up. The drop is really intense it has some great airtime hills and the scenary really delivers the hype. Just an all around super ride. RERIDE-10 The main reason I planned this trip and the main reason I would go back again. Worth every great compiment it has received. OVERALL-48 AVG-9.6 Definately a ten. For all those who think it is not worth heading to CT for you are wrong. It is a super ride in a very good, very clean park that has very good customer service. Remember the free pop helps offset the slightly high price. The water park also looks great though the massive crowd kept me from going. My number 4 favorite coaster in my 11th favorite park.

the lack of air on the double down is surprising, I felt the same way if only it had Jackrabbit air on that manuever

It needs to have air-time on the double down, like the Phoenix at Knoebels. I was literally ejected from my seat.

Still, its a truly kick-ass coaster. Phoenix practically exists solely for the purpose of airtime, whereas Boulder Dash lives to rip around and scare the heck out of you. Both such a blast.

I definately still really like it I just cant believe there was no air there.

Tend to get air in the back on that park but not much in th efront. the coaster gives to dramaticly deforent rides from front to back.

It just gives dramatically different rides period.

I had better air in the front row than one of my rides in the fifth car. Im with Herc, its just different every ride.

I havent gotten an air-time fest yet on Boulder Dash, and I live within 2 hours from Lake Compounce. I havent ever ridden Boulder Dash later than 7:00 P.M., and I got no air-time on that ride. When does Boulder Dash really begin to become an air-time fest at night?

I rode front and back, early and dusk. Some parts had air all day others were amplified closer to evening. A coaster does not have to be an airtime monster, but a wood coaster needs some. For me if I would have got air in the double down it would be number 1 as is it is number 4 so that is still good since I have rode 171 coasters.

I will try Boulder Dash again soon.

The time is less important then the temp. the October rides tend to be slow while the summer evning and even night runs are verry good.
Canobie Coaster on 9/6/2005 4:12:25 PM said:
I will try to ride during the peek days of summer, and at night, after 9:00 P.M.

Its a deforent thing to ride this coaster in the dark. though an October Fog is fun as well.

In my opinion Boulder Dash starts heating up around 2 in the afternoon and rocks on into the night.

I only have gone on days that close at 8:00 P.M., and on most weekdays, they only ran one train, not giving Boulder Dash enough time, to warm up the track. Last year, when Boulder Dash ran 2 trains, the ride opened at 4:00 P.M., and closed at 6:00 P.M., because the ride was having difficulties with the restraints.

You happy now Bobbie?
Canobie Coaster on 9/7/2005 6:32:08 AM said:
I cant go at that time, Im, because of how Im busy with school. I can only visit over the summer right now. Ill try going on a night in which the park closes at 10:00 P.M.
BobFunland on 9/7/2005 9:36:14 AM said:
Yoshi, try to ride in the dark, the ride is better in the dark because you have no clue where you are going. The train flies when it is warm. There you go, 10 posts of crap summarized in one. No need for some of this useless banter.

Im assuming that your going to school outside the area. if you are in the area hit the Haunted Graveyard in October good night rides and th ebest haunted atraction you will ever find.
Canobie Coaster on 9/7/2005 7:00:40 PM said:
I cant make it during the Haunted Graveyard, so I will go on a night, that the park closes at 10:00 P.M. during the summer.
mrceagle on 9/8/2005 12:30:31 PM said:
Its a shame the Haunted graveyard is an amazing event. its the best Haunted attraction in NE.
Canobie Coaster on 9/8/2005 2:49:19 PM said:
I find some better local ones. There are many of them, but they are very pricey.
mrceagle on 9/8/2005 3:53:31 PM said:
Which do you hit. Im not to far from Salem NH and always hit Victorian park for there haunted atraction.

The one in Abbington, Massachusetts, is an excellent one, because it has many scenes where things drop out at you, or on you. Also, they even have scenes that touch you. However, the haunted house is very costly, around $20. I have only done it once, but it was fun.
mrceagle on 9/8/2005 6:04:19 PM said:
There is a new Hounted house comign to Nashua. I jsut read about it. Ill have to check it out.

A town close by to me, Weymouth, was going to get a spooky world. It would be ultra scary, and Fiesta Shows would provide many rides for it. However, the plan was destroyed, recently, because of the cost.
mrceagle on 9/9/2005 11:12:13 AM said:
Ya thats a bummer. I saya site I think it was HountedHouses.com or hountedhouse.com somthign like that you could serch the state for them. MA had a few sacatered around.

I know that theres a Spooky World in Foxboro, but it is not worth the outragous price. Next time I go to Lake Compounce, I will try to go during the Haunted Graveyard, and try to get an air-time fest on Boulder Dash.

I totally get air time on the double down..its more like the train drop out from under you rather then you flying up.
