 Review of Skooters @ Knoebels
-2 Rating Posted by: Canobie Coaster on 8/26/2005 8:39:00 AM
The Skooters are an excellent set of bumper cars and I can see why they constantly win the award for best bumper cars. Located to the right of the main entrance surrounded by trees, Skooters is housed within a small arena. On the building is a small neon sign with the rides name on it. While waiting in line, you can hear the monsterous collisions they make. Generally the Skooters have a 15 minute wait because Knoebels owns a good amount of cars. Their arena is the one-way kind with the center divider. With many sleek cars, you are restrained by a seatbelt. Best of all, Knoebels has classic Lusse cars that are in perfect condition. Once the ride begins, you get a very long ride cycle, around 5 minutes. These heavy bumper cars really pick up speed and handle very well. Because of the good speed for bumper cars plus the weight of the cars make the hardest hitting bumper cars I have ever been on. You can really feel the shocks of the collisions. Overall, an excellent set of bumper cars at an outstanding park. I highly recommend the Skooters for anyone who enjoys bumper cars. They are definitely worthy of being called the best bumper cars.

just curious - What are your favorite bumper cars?

Yea Im curious too since the next highest score hes given to a set of bumper cars was an 8 (unless I missed one) which confuses me.

I gots ta know...who could beat Knoebels? Hoffmans are great, but the building is smaller and they are not in as good condition as Knoebels.

I was surprised, but I liked Santas Smackers better at Santas Village in New Hampshire. I was stunned, because the Santas Village bumper cars arent as violent, but I think I found the ones at Knoebels, a bit too rough for me. Also the ones at Santas Village have lots for cars, so I can hit more, and are faster and have better handling. However the Skooters look better, and have more beautiful cars, but they were just a little too rough, to be my favorite bumper cars. However, I really did enjoy the Skooters.

bumprnugit - I dont know if its just me, but I thought the Hoffmans ones actually hit harder than the Knoebels ones, but for those other reasons I found them to be around the same level. (thanks for posting about them in your review, stopping there was one of the best decisions Ive ever made).

Too rough? You mean they hit too hard

I thought they were too rough, because I got a bruise, and some children cried when they got hit, because of how hard they hit. I found it odd, but I liked the ones at Santas Village in New Hampshire better.

The ones at Hoffmans cut me open too and IMO it made it better B) LOL (for some reason the sunglasses shows up as the crazy guy )

BobFunland-I never actually noticed if they hit harder or not - since the arena is smaller I thought you could get more steam up at Knoebels, but you may be right. As far as the condition goes, I should have been more specific; I always thought Knoebels maintained the appearance of their scooters better. Im really glad to hear you liked them - if anyone is heading to the TGE its right off of I-87 (The Northway)in Latham. I work in Downtown Albany, about 10 minutes away, and Ive driven there on lunch breaks to squeeze off a ride. Alas, sometimes the crowds just arent there when I am. Also, I wonder why Hoffmans isnt listed on this site? Even though it is a small roadside park with mostly kiddie rides, it does have a Herschell junior coaster, Lusse Scooters and a few other standard flats, but Mars 2112 is listed and thats hardly a park.

I will do an inventory of the major rides and submit it to park requests!

I just submitted it here, oddly enough before I even saw your response. I was looking through photos to come up with the rides because their website stinks. However, anything that I missed feel free to attach a comment to the end of that thread, I know there were quite a few other rides that I just couldnt recall.

PS - that was me two posts up, and fortunately I wont have to delete that anonymous comment.
