Review of Nitro @ Six Flags Great Adventure

Wow. Nitro is very similar to Superman: Ride of Steel at SFNE, but I think it may be a little bit better. Supes has more air time on the secondary hills, but Nitro has a more imaginative layout. After a huge first drop, it goes through all kinds of maneuvers. Particularly good is an uphill turn when youre almost parallel to the ground before dropping again. Like Medusa, it slows partway through, then re-speeds up for the bunny hills. Bonus: It feels very scary because there is no "car", no OTSRs, and no seat belts. Just a kind of wedge that jams up around your waist, and it can look kinda tenuous. (Hows this for adding to the scare factor: One guy lost hold of, I think, a water bottle when riding and it went flying off to the side. Everyone aboard gasped at that.) Extra bonus: at night its mostly dark; the running lights on the main hill add a nice touch, especially on humid nights when the mist gives the lights a halo effect. Very, very fun. Must ride.
