Review of Enchanted Tiki Room @ Magic Kingdom
0 Rating Posted by: figment873 on 8/2/2005 9:50:00 AM
Since this show has been updated.. it is great. I liked the originally because I am a Disney Fan. But now it is even better. I cant believe people dont like listening to them sing "In the Still of The Night" that is the best part. I also like the pre-show, and the fact that no matter where you sit, you have great seats. My only complaint is that they get interupted in the very first, classic song. They shouldve been able to sing the whole song!

Its not the music solection that I dont like its Eago and Zazo. I dont like them and they are liek 5 times larger then any of the perds in the show. there just out of place.
taylorb251 on 8/2/2005 5:40:25 PM said:
They are five times larger because they are the main characters in the show. They also own the place. These "perds" make the show.
figment873 on 8/2/2005 9:07:27 PM said:
They are the new owners they dont have to fit with the themeing of the show! They are like the only two popular birds that Disney has. They are also the ones that kids know. The bottom line is.. it doesnt matter they are the NEW OWNERS!
coaster05 on 8/2/2005 9:27:53 PM said:
Amazing how many people will "believe" that a ship is out of control, but they are habitat experts on where birds live. They are the new owners of a show, they are not living there.
mrceagle on 8/3/2005 1:05:50 PM said:
LEts not get into that fact that they are the new owners. its a dumb concept. thing is there bird they shoudl at least be normal size they are in the movies.
taylorb251 on 8/3/2005 1:56:06 PM said:
mrceagle I forgot that you were in the movie to see how big they are. You really have no way of knowing what size they are compared to the other birds in the show. I have never seen those birds in a movie. Sounds like you wanted something to complain about and you pick this. The new owners are the stars of the show and should be bigger so that every one can see them.
mrceagle on 8/3/2005 3:24:43 PM said:
So basicly the new found fam and some how money has gon to more then there head. Anyways, considuring that every other Human or animal character in the movies were ment to be normal size, in turn they would be normal size. the idea of the tiki room was a magical place were real birds sang. Teh new managment concept couldnt be workign that wellover all since the Cali version just got rehabed without the new managment. its also rated batter on this site, 6.85 to FLs 5.72 .
figment873 on 8/3/2005 4:26:03 PM said:
You know what mrceagle, I think you just want to something to argue about. The fact of the matter is this.. they are fictional characters they can be any size we want them to be because they are not real. That is the beauty of an animated picture/characters. Your argument about the size makes no sense. The birds themselves are not that much bigger it is the perch that they are sitting on the makes them look so large. You act like this show is "real." Guess what in real life flowers dont sing! It doesnt matter that the two famous ones are slightly bigger, what matters is that the show is good. It really doenst matter that the one in Califonia rates 1.13 points higher, because there are people like you on here that think you need to complain about minor details of the show instead of actually looking at the story line of the show. The idea of the show is still the same. Zazu is trying to teach Iago to respect the enchantment of the Tiki room, and he doesnt learn his lesson till he actual gets a visit from the Tiki God. The actual basic story of the room doesnt change. They just add some features to it to be more entertaining. In the end, the audience still leaves there feeling and understandig the magic of the Tiki Room.

Exept the ones that leave early. which Ive seen increas on this new set up. Im not tryign to argue nor do I try to. I started off saying why I personaly dont like the new version. Then people started coming up with these of beat Excuses for why they are larger then the rest of the birds.
figment873 on 8/3/2005 5:05:02 PM said:
I have seen this show at least 10 times (probably isnt a lot compared to some others) but never have I seen anyone leave. Your personal opinion has nothing to do with the overall presentation of the show. I think that is problem that everyone has. You make a big deal about a size difference that is so small most visitors wouldnt even notice or care about. Do yo like Festival of the Lion King? Cause Pumba he is huge in that!
mrceagle on 8/3/2005 5:08:42 PM said:
Actually I havnt seen it yet. We went able to catch it last time I was at Animal Kingdom.

I went old everyone left expected my family. THere is no way the old is better than the new. I cant believe you would even type that.

MRC why does the size of the bird matter but not the fact that they talk. Talking does not hurt your realism but size does. How many times have you seen this show to make the statement that more people leave early during this show as opposed to the old version. Better yet I want to see some facts on this leaving early thing. I have been on this site long enough to say this. Stop talking out your a@# and put some proof behind your facts. If you cant deliver that then shut up and stop continuing arguments.

Leaving, I have been to the park only a few times. in my first three trips we say the tiki room a few times each trip only a couple peopel left half way through the show. on my last two trips we say it three times. all three shows there were people walking out on it. maybe this dosnt hapon all the time but out of the shows I went to more people left this new version. I didnt take vedios of them leaving so I can;t show you that so I guess I have not reall proff. Size, the birds just look fake. perhaps a littel too cartoonish. thing is I have seen anamatronics jsut as good at the two managers at a game center.
figment873 on 8/4/2005 2:57:16 PM said:
What kind of comment is that.. "They look a little too cartoonish".. THEY ARE! They are from an animated movie.. have you even seen those movies to know that they are not REAL? I cant believe your comments. I think you dont understand the idea of fictional characters. To say that they look cartoonish is just plain stupid and shouldnt have even got this much of a reaction.
mrceagle on 8/4/2005 4:49:29 PM said:
Ok lets clear that up. Walt Disney had a standared of realism he wanted in the birds. movments to mimic breathing and such on top of th enormal movments.this two jsut dont fit that standard of realism. dose that clear things up.

So I wasnt going nuts! thanks for the backup.
taylorb251 on 8/4/2005 6:05:18 PM said:
They are bigger no question asked. The facted is most people want disney to update their stuff and when they do people complain. Mrceagle and ftpc I think you would complain no matter if it was the same old ride or this new one. I cant believe thats all you guys complain about is the size of the birds. Thats the whole agrueement. If you have nothing new just stop posting on this show.
taylorb251 on 8/4/2005 6:26:38 PM said:
FTPC why dont you review and rides. You have 3 reviews. Looks like to me that all you do is post on other peoples stuff. Have a back bone and do some reviews.
figment873 on 8/4/2005 9:53:15 PM said:
You and MRCEAGLE must be buddies or something, because you keep coming back to the "cartoon birds." First of all they are based after a cartoon, second of all you guys forget that other then the fact that those birds look like a Macaw (that is what they technically are) that around them they have a large "Tiki God", singing orchids, and chanting totums. Plus, other then the looks of the bird nothing about them is real. No bird talks that perfect of vocabulary or the uses dilects from specific countries. So both of you arguing about how out of place the two "cartoon" characters need to realize that nothing in this place is realistic. If you want to see real birds, go to a bird show like Flights of Wonder. I think it is pretty lame, also that you dont write any review only try to bash others. Careful, you might not want to review any rides or shows or you could get into a discussion like this. The bottom line is that the show is fake... so the idea of realism is a terrible argument. Base your review on the actual show and the plot. Rather than the Macaws and the hornbills. Remember the whole show deals with fake birds, flowers, Gods, and rain. Find something new to argue about.
taylorb251 on 8/4/2005 11:31:58 PM said:
So all you do is try to argue with people and never do anything of your own. Thats just chicken in my opinion. Why dont you do something of your own. Oh wait all you want to do is bash other people. You have no ride tracker, so how do I even know you have seen this show. Thats cool you know the owner of the website, but do something of your own. I think you are just after people.
coaster05 on 8/4/2005 11:34:43 PM said:
The ride was changed to increase viewership it did that. The birds are not to scale oh well. At least neither bird is a hummingbird instead they are large birds naturally so its ok. MRC if you dont like the show why have you set through it so many times. Figment has been to this park at least 10 times in her life I am guessing she is packing a little more weight then I go who is a homer for Canobie and another who has three ride reviews.
mrceagle on 8/5/2005 12:15:55 PM said:
Well no one can say I havnt reviewed anything. I have reviewed every ride i have been on that is on this site. 350 reviews posted. Let me say this, Im a bit of a purist. I f its right the fisrt time dont mess with it. I have never complained aobut the changes maid to Spaceship earth or carousel of Progress. But when you start straying from Walts origanal vision thats goign to far. I with I could tell you what video its on. Disney did a few things on the tiki room and he had brough tup the fact that he wanted peopel to beleave this might be real. This detracks form that vision. its hard to imagin somthign is reall when you have those two things flaping there aminatronic becks.
mrceagle on 8/5/2005 4:53:49 PM said:
FTPC just shut them up. Do a ride tracker just to show of were youve been. when you have time do one or two more reviews. tthat way you have more then 3 and a ride tracker.
coaster05 on 8/6/2005 1:36:14 AM said:
When he has time to write ride reviews, whatever like it takes so long. And MRC dont drop your 350 ride reviews like I am gonna be impressed. Bottom line arguing about the scale of the birds is really stupid. All the birds have animantronic beaks. Walt had great vision and I also wish certain things would never change. He also made Song of the South which had some many racist undertones that the movie is no longer available. So just cause he said it does not make it perfect. I like both version of Tiki but I do think they should never have cut off the first song, but I also thought the other show started to drag.
coaster05 on 8/6/2005 4:54:34 PM said:
Who cares if they are bigger and I have seen the show 3 different times. News flash for you birds, not all the same size.
mrceagle on 8/8/2005 5:18:20 PM said:
Well I do . I think it detracks the fact that they interupt the tiki room song anoyed me. If they came in at the end of the song and were less anoying I may have liked the show better dispite there size. but after hatign there intrance and eagos brain tearign voice. all that is left is the characters them self. if it was Zazo alone I might have liked it more.
taylorb251 on 8/8/2005 7:08:30 PM said:
So should they change eagos voice? Thats his voice in the movie. That comment makes no sence. I just dont believe you liked the old show. I bet you hated until they changed it. Now disney got it wrong for you. We get it. But the voice is just lame.
coaster05 on 8/9/2005 1:42:14 AM said:
Figment wrote a good review stating why she liked the ride. She even acknowledges that the interuption of the song bothers her. She never bashed the old version or made an attack on anyone. She said I cant believe people dont like them singing still of the night. Then FTPC and MRC start trying to find facts for there personal opinion which will never happen. Size of birds, believability of the new owner story, normal looking. It is a romm full of talking and singing bird, statues and even F$%@%ng flowers. If you "believe" any of that you need to get on medicine. Look you two liked the old one better. Figment and Taylor prefer the new and I liked them both equally. I did think the old show started to drag. As far as the scenary the birds admit this is a magically building at disney. The building nor the birds ever say the are still located in the tropics. Since the birds know they are located in a building then couldnt birds from any demographic join the show.
mrceagle on 8/9/2005 12:53:32 PM said:
I at no time put down any ones rating or argued that they shoudl lower of raise it. Yes I stated some personal opinions about why I dont like the set up. Ive spent the rest of the time defending my beleafs jsut because you think there dumb. whell thats your opinion and Im not going to put you douw for it. I remember the tiki room being changed from my first visit to the second to last visit were I think it was tina terner singign the tiki god park. that version wasnt that bad. the rain and other FX that were in the show. this new one seems to only rely on the new managment for any entetainment value and makes everythign of the origanal show seem un important. yes I dont like Eago, I didnt like his voice in the movie , and I dont like the acter or his parks in movies liek Problem Child.
figment873 on 8/10/2005 7:52:09 PM said:
You know, I havent been on in awhile, but you guys saying that my beliefs are dumb and yours arent is just STUPID. I cant believe a review of an 8 was that big of a problem. MRC I cant believe you brought up Gilbert Godfree as Iagos voice, but in the Star Tours review you brought up Pee-Wee Herman like you liked him. He was caught in a porno movie theater. That is someone you should dislike. The other guy is just acting. Sometimes, I think you dont think before you write..
mrceagle on 8/11/2005 12:42:44 PM said:
When it cames to starwars I was statign a fact that most peopel seemed to not know. at the time th eride was made he was still a big star. Im not sayign what he dd was right nor that I like him. but I dont exactly find his voice anoying. You jumped to conclusions on your own. you beter off asting me who I like and not just assume.
taylorb251 on 8/12/2005 12:23:18 AM said:
All I know is that I or figment never said anything bad about the old show. I do know that the new is better. I think disney knows what is best and they did the right thing here. Im tried of hearing the birds are to big, so what. The birds are fake. So if thats all you have to say why dont you just leave figment alone and say she wrote a good review about what she likes and dislikes.
mrceagle on 8/12/2005 12:37:51 PM said:
I never said anythign negitive about figment! so I dont know were your geting that. Disney knows how to make the right choise? take a look at MR toad for Winie the Poo, Time Keeper for a meat and great area, Alien Incouter for Stich incouter. There is no way perfact and seem to intent on throughing the movie characters into every corner they can find.
figment873 on 8/14/2005 6:14:48 PM said:
I dont understand why you guys even go to Magic Kingdom, you dont like anything they have there. Winie the Poo? How about Winnie the Pooh.. and whatever that is ten times the ride of Mr. Toad. Of course, if you dont read the book, you wouldnt understand some parts of the ride. My advice, is dont go if you dont like it.

Yea the worlds most succesful theme park needs to ask the members of Theme Park Critic before their decision. Also 20,000 leagues became Ariels area though I am not sure what it is at current date. Plus someone said 20,000 leagues was leaking and have all type of problems so they actually got rid of it since they could not maintain it anymore, but I am sure you know that since you have an opinion on everything.
mrceagle on 8/15/2005 12:51:32 PM said:
Im the one that said it!! I liek many of the atractions at Magic Kingdom. though I liked dream flight I think Buzz Lightyear Space blasters is a better atraction. I just with thay woudl set up Pixar in there oun area of MGM. but that wont hapon unless they pick them back up. The 20,000 leagues area is rumered to be bcoming a winnie the Pooh play area. Im not even going to get into that.
figment873 on 8/15/2005 6:30:31 PM said:
mrceagle..when you are talking "dream flight" are you meaning "Take Flight"? Because that was one of my favorite attractracts ever, however, totally understandable why they took it out and put Buzz Lightyears Space Ranger Spin in. That is now a major attraction, where Take Flight had absolutely no visitors. However, it really doesnt make and more sense to put this at MGM. Because it fits in with the Tomorrowland themeing well. The only thing at MGM that is Toy Story centered is Pizza Planet. Which really is only themed by name and the outside. The inside doesnt resemble Pizza Planet from the movie at all. So really it wouldnt be placed any better there. I havent heard the rumor about the play are.. I have a hard time believing it because it was only about five years ago that they put money into the ghotto where Ariel is and the King Triton statue. Last few times, I have been there, that attraction has been packed. She is really popular, and if you look at some of the other play areas (example: Honey, I Shrunk the Kids play area MGM) they dont get that much use. Maybe that is a rumor far in advance... who knows. That is also the only place that you can meet Ariel I believe. At least as a mermaid.

Take Flight was excellent IMO but it was very, very old school. Buzz was definately a godd decision as far as popularity goes, though I dont care for it.

I agree Take Flight was a good atraction. very very traditional but fun. Whaen I said move the Pixar stuff to MGM I ment all the pixar things to MGM. As in makigna new area to the park ad havigna number of Pixar atractions. one area they could do this is in the old animation buildign and court yard. there is allot of unused space in there now that they dont animate movies any more.

Mrceagle: Thanks for the website.. I enjoyed looking at it. It is amazing I was at Disney World July 8-16 didnt see that construction area being built. Thanks again for the website... I am not sure I think that is a good area!? But who I am to judge the vacation destination of the world?
mrceagle on 8/16/2005 6:50:55 PM said:
Ill do it. Disney is a malty million dollar company they shoudl use that much space for more then just a play area. There all right for smaller parks like Story land but come on dose magic Kingdome really need this?
figment873 on 8/17/2005 8:16:08 PM said:
I agree with you. They shouldnt do this, however at least it is at the Magic Kingdom where they focus on kids, and really that area is pretty small so it could be worse. Like in MGM which I think they are trying to make more "adult" Magic Kingdom doesnt need this, but maybe little kids do!?
mrceagle on 9/1/2005 12:45:37 PM said:
They could have put in the areals sea are from Disney sea with a small play area and a few themed family rides that would have been better. and now they have that tunnel area, which is biig enough to fit the Poo ride laying empty most likely and they waisted a goodride for the poo ride a few years ago.

Wasnt the ride also called "If You Had Wings" sponsored by the now defunct Eastern Airlines. That ride closed in 1987. It was a fun ride and I believe some of the parts can be found in "El Rio del Tiempo"

It isnt called dream flight, I was called Take Flight. For Christmas a few years ago, my brother bought me some knock off DVD of it. Some guy video taped the whole thing and then sold it. It was so funny.
I dont remember the "If You Had Wings" ride of course I was only 9 when they removed it. So it doesnt surprise me. However, I would like to know which parts are in El Rio del Teimpo.

Oh, unfortunately I was much older and with my children in 1987. The parts of "If You had Wings" I believe that are in "El Rio del Tiempo" are the scuba divers and the people trying to sell you trinkets at the end. I am certain of the divers not so certain of the trinket sellers.

Oh by the way it was actually called "If You Could Fly", "Dreamflight" and "Take Flight" after it closed as "If You had Wings"

I anly remembered the dream flight. The last time i went it was shut down to be conveerted to the Buzz lightyear ride.
