Review of Power Surge @ Palace Playland
0 Rating Posted by: Canobie Coaster on 7/27/2005 12:58:00 PM
APPEARANCE: It definitely has a carnival feel to it, but the ride is very clean and the light package at night looks great and really makes the ride stand out.

WAIT TIME: Walk-On- I have never seen a line for this, but to the operators credits, they load this very quickly and dont fiddle around.

RIDE: Like it should be, it was very disorienting. Palace Playland ran this longer than any other park Ive been to and therefore I got plenty of flipping, though there could have been more if the base still rotated (it stopped last year).

FINAL VERDICT: If the base still spun this definitely would be my favorite power surge. Still, the long cycle definitely makes this one of the best ones out there and one of the parks best rides as well.

I rocked it even when it did rocked itself. I rocked it a lot when the ride slowed down a little.

This would be a nice fit for Canobie. However, I hear they are using their money to possibly build a new coaster.

Thats always the case. but nothing is set yet. I do know the park want s to go more family agian next eyar so if they did add a coasater it would be a family one. other posibilitys are a new entrance(pool removed), actually buying the Zamperla Skater that is on site for the remainder of the year, or a new area.

I think they are going to add a new steel coaster in the woods behind the Psycho Drome.

Thats the Picnic Groungs! dont count on it. the old BAll field has been looked at for a future ride or rides area.
Canobie Coaster on 7/27/2005 3:56:19 PM said:
That would probably be the area. I still believe if they add a coaster, it would be a steel one.

Anote are and I know you rated it well woudl be in place of Tember splash. it get long lines but that do to Capacity it actually get a prity poor ridership. that area is abotu 14 acre just for Tember splash a mine train themed family coaster woudl be able to use the retention pong as well as the land.

Timber Splash Water Coaster is a very popular ride, and I like it, they should keep it.

Actualy look at the ratign on this site. its verry low. ridership for the park its not the worst but its not the best. The capacity is just too low to keep much longer. 360pph is usles on most days.

I went to Canobie recently, and the lines for the Timber Splash Water Coaster were outragous. They should tear it down, since they have the Castaway Island water play structure, which has tons of water slides. Canobie could really fit a Power Surge in where the Galaxi used to be, since some of the space was used for the Skater, and the rest could be used for a Power Surge. It would be a great ride for thrill-seekers, and would be a great addition.

Like mrceagle had said, a family mine train coaster would fit nicely where the Timber Splash Water Coaster is. Maybe it could be a Morgan mine train coaster, and it could have a small, fake hill built, to make the ride more exciting. It could wind in and out of it, and it could be filled with tunnels.

the best ride to hit palace playland is yet to open and its came from scotland and is called adrenalin.

I rode Adrenalin yesterday. It was a very fun ride and very well maintained. The only thing I disliked about it was the cycle that Palace Playland was using. There were only two full swings and then the ride slowed down.

Anyway about Power Surge, it wasnt nearly as good this year as it has been in past years. The base stopped spinning. Ill ask somebody later today why it doesnt rotate anymore because that really added to the ride. Still this easily is my favorite Power Surge because of its long cycle.

The Base stopped spinning? wtf? So all it does now is raises up and does the circle and thats it?
Canobie Coaster on 8/28/2007 8:44:01 AM said:
Yeah. Sadly when I asked the operator when the base stopped spinning, he was clueless and had no clue what I was talking about.
