Review of Thunder Falls Log Flume Ride @ Funtown Splashtown U.S.A.

APPEARANCE: This is a simply beautiful log flume. The ride is at ground level throughout and there are quite a bit of trees surrounding the ride, which conceals the layout. Also, the station looks great too from both the inside and outside. I also really like the water wheel attached to the station, as it really adds to the overall appearance of the ride. Finally, the logs look great too as they have a unique and sleek paint job.

WAIT TIME: 5-10 minutes- Even on buiser days, this never really seems to get a line. Usually I find the wait around 5 minutes, but at times the wait can get up to 10 minutes. This is thanks to the many logs Funtown runs, and while the logs arent continuously moving, the park dispatches the boats pretty quickly.

RIDE: Thunder Falls is a very long log flume. Traveling close to the ground, I encountered many twists and turns throughout the ride. In one section called "Rattlesnake River", theres many turns and even a few rapids which got me wet. The final drop was incredible as it was pretty steep and very tall. I got fairly wet from the splash, but the following water cannons is what really gets me wet.

FINAL VERDICT: Other than Canobies flume, this is the best flume in New England. If youre at Funtown and dont mind getting moderately wet and like flumes, ride this because its one of the best ones out there.

I have been on MAny flumes. this is sligtly longer maybe by a dozen feet of so then Yule loge and its taller then both canobies and Santas but its a slighlty shorter drop do to the level that the splash down is at.

Santas is great you shoudl check out Canobies far better then both of these.

I liked the one at Santas Village better than Canobies barely. The ride before the drop is better at Santas Village. However, the drops are equal, but you get wetter on Canobies. However, I like Splash Mountain is my favorite flume, and those two follow it.

Amazingly they are all Hopkins rides. I think Funtown could do with a little themign and some trees. one thing I didn;t like was it was to open.

I really like Hopkins flume rides. Splash Mountain was built by Intamin AG. Thunder Falls does need some theming like Excalibur or Dragons Descent.

The Cali Version is a Hopkins Flume all the way. The Florida verion is using custom built flume boats and Hopkins flow control system.

I have recently visited Pennsylvania, and Canobie, and now think that Splash Mountain(Magic Kingdom), Flume(Knoebels), and the Policy Pond Log Flune(Canobie Lake Park), are now better than the Yule Log Flume.
