The Tomorrowland Indy…err Tomorrowland Speedway with the recently dropped sponsor, is a typical guided car ride like the ones found at many other parks across the country. Located near the entrance of Tomorrowland and lacking the typical Disney charm of other more publicized attractions, this typically draws less crowds than more popular attractions, but nonetheless its rather low capacity leads to lines close to 20 minutes or so, time far better spent queuing for much better attractions. Nonetheless, the attraction does look great with the way that the sleek cars fly by over the track that hugs the terrain. Also, much of the attraction’s sprawling layout is hidden from view prior to riding.

Once in one of the various sleek looking cars, it’s apparent that Disney has made this slightly ahead of other car rides out there. Unlike others, this one has a neat little racing element due to many tracks being lined up next to each other, following the same course. However, the novelty quickly wares off since the attraction is track-guided, essentially making it no different than other car rides where you can control the gas and have a tiny bit of steering ability. One thing I definitely appreciate is the long, winding course which is definitely one of the longer ones I’ve ever driven on this type of attraction.

While the Tomorrowland Speedway is one of the best of the genre, it simply just doesn’t measure up to the more unique attractions the park has to offer, and is actually one of the park’s weaker attractions. But as I’ve said, it is pretty good for a car ride since the cars run well and the track is huge and laid out well. By no means is this attraction a classic or a can’t miss, and I really only recommend it after you’ve hit all of the park’s better, more original attractions.
