Ah, the People Mover…err Tommorowland Transit Authoriy. A ride that is so often forgotten about at Disney with the more thrilling, innovative, and more well themed attractions that exist at the park. However, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority is a very pleasant and satisfyingly long monorail that gives a very nice tour of Tomorrowland from above.
Most importantly, this thing is a capacity machine. It just eats through waves of people incredibly quickly and the longest wait I have ever waited in for this is one minute, no joke. The lines for this just move that quickly.
As for the ride itself, the concept is incredibly simple, yet it’s perfectly executed, giving great views of quite a few of Tomorrowland’s attractions from interesting angles, especially my favorite, the incredible views of Space Mountain that just can’t be appreciated while on Space Mountain. Along with those views, the views of Buzz Lightyear are pretty cool from above and definitely are an improvement over the original CircleVision Theater scenes. Also, the ride is quite long and the cars travel surprisingly quickly along the aerial track. Lastly, while I know that some people find the audio annoying, I actually really enjoyed the automated tour. It was clear and informative.
So how is it overall? Well, certainly it’s not an elite attraction by any stretch of the imagination and the ride really isn’t truly special, but it perfectly executes what it was designed for- a relaxing tour. Generally I ride this a few times while waiting out a Buzz or Space Mountain Fastpass, or because all other attractions have unbearable waits since this ride is the king of capacity. Despite being not much more than a basic monorail, the good views and relaxing ride make this an attraction well worth experiencing.
