This ride delivers everything that you can ask for in a hyper coaster. Every drop just seems to give your stomach that hollow/sinking feeling while every hill gives you some much desired airtime. The first drop of this mammoth is one of the best. Although it is clearly not vertical, it almost becomes impossible to tell otherwise as your falling down to earth staring at the track below. These lead into two airtime-packed hills (one with a twisted drop) and bring you through the hammerhead. This provides some great G’s, but those pale in comparison to the helix awaiting you. After two more hills you have the privilege of getting pinned to the back of your seat as tear droplets form in your eyes. I have yet to discover a more intense helix. After a mid-course break following the helix, an endless barrage of hills begins – each delivering its own douse of airtime. The clam restraints make this ride complete as you are able to freely float over every hill. A day at Great Adventure is not complete without Nitro!
