I severely underestimated this ride, and it could not have turned out any better for me. I got to the park just as it opened and headed straight for Storm Runner, drawing upon some helpful advice of a friend. The hill looked unimpressive to me from afar. Coming from the launch capital of the world (PKD) I was sure that the launch wouldnt be all too special. The ride looked far too short to achieve greatness. Boy was I wrong. In about 5 minutes of waiting I was strapped into the front seat of this wild stallion of a coaster. We pulled out of the duel station, latched onto the launch cable, watched as the fins lowered, and then came a resounding voice: "NOW GET READY...HERE WE GO!" And with a flash, I was experiencing the single best launch on any ride I have ever been on. Up the tower we scorched, into the airtime-packed tophat, then coming face to face with the ground below. The Cobra Loop provided some solid forces until rolling out and then once again swooping up into a hang-time-city barrel roll, directly followed by the Flying Snake Dive, now one of my favorite inversions. Two highly banked turns follow and then the train is brought to a smooth halt. Storm Runner in one word: insane. The ride is very short, but the intensity and relentless speed and aggression on this ride blew me away. I had 5 solid rides on this beast with slightly heavy crowds, so I come away fully satisfied with my healthy dose of vertical horsepower!
