 Review of Volcano, The Blast Coaster @ Kings Dominion

I was there the first day this ride opened in the summer of 98. The launch at the beginning is one of the most amazing coaster experiences Ive ever witnessed. The acceleration is so raw and powerful (so much more so than Flight of Fear for some reason). Anyway, its indescribable how cool that feels. Unfortunately, the rest of the ride is good but not great. On the back side of the volcano theres plenty of speed for a cobra roll or something more than just a banked turn back into the mountain. The climb up and out of the top is really cool, but the inversions following are a bit mediocre. Youre pretty high up there and one of the inversions makes you think you just missed hiting the mountain, not bad but nothing too spectacular. Ive gotta give PKD some credit though it is a very unique coaster and theming is a step forward for this park, I just wish they wouldve done a litle more with it. I envisioned the track going through the mountain more, similar to how Montu spends time flying through those canyons. Final Rating - 8.5 (Great-Approaching Excellent)

Hooray!! My unpopular opinion got me another bad review. Thats great! I think I did a pretty good job of explaining why I didnt like this ride but if people who like the ride dont agree, they should protest by giving me a bad review. I love that! I mean we should all love the same rides, right?

Its wierd how you say you didnt like the ride, but gave it a Great-Approaching Excellent rating! I agree that there is no reason for a "bad," but your good-bad ratio is 5-1, so I wouldnt be complaining

Unfortunitely, I think Im starting to agree too. It was a ride that blew me away on my first ride, but seems to be getting tamer the more and more I ride it. Still the launch is good, as is the intensity of the vertical inversion.

The bads are still unwarranted, so I can still complain. And my review does have a somewhat negative tone, but I still gave it an 8.5 mainly because of the launches and uniqueness of the attraction. Volcanos a great ride when compared to other coasters, I just thought it didnt quite live up to its full potential and it was a little short.
