The Calico Mine Ride was the original ride at the park (back before it was really a "park" , and I think it still holds up today. This is not a thrill ride, as your train travels at a very low speed, but it is kind of exciting being in replicas of small, dark, claustophobic caverns and mines, on a train and track that feel quite rickety. The miner figures are pretty low-tech, but this ride does for mining what the Timber Mountain Log Ride next door does for logging. You get to glimpse what it would have been like to try to make a living this way. I also enjoy the large cave with stalactites and stalagmites, and the ending when the train has to "rush" to get out of a mine before the dynamite explodes. I do wish you could understand the guide a little better. After all these years Im still not sure I can decipher whats supposed to be being said.
