Review of Astrosphere @ Funtown Splashtown U.S.A.

The only knock on the ride is it can be slower moving then some scramblers. What is good about it is the soundtrack and the light show. The lighting effects are amazing, funtown spends a lot of money adding to it each season. the ride is always geting a few new features each year. last season the slides with alien faces are gone, replaced with more lazers and onther lighting.

True they may have faster scramblers, but I tend not to think of it so much as a scrambler, but more as a show. Not to mention that if this ride were run at full speed for a three plus minute show, on a hot day when the temperature often reaches 100 degrees, with the strobes, I guarentee many more people would get sick. Though the scrambler at Canobie does go faster, their lighting and sound system are far inferior. The light show is controled entirely by the ride operators with the exception of the mirror ball lights and slide projectors. Thogh other scrambles may go faster, none provide as unique an experience.

I agree with what Achibabwa said. But I cant agree with the fact you think Great Escapes screambler is facter. the last couple of times I road it it was ungodly slow. the Astrophere is fast enough to be exiting but slow enough to be able to see the show.

really they must have slowed it up. funtowns was quick too before exclibur came then they toned it down a little bit and shortened it too.

The speed have gotten a bit slower over the last year or two, but the good ol scrambler should be in top shape next season. As far as shortening, until 2000 or 2001, the tapes used in the sound system were made off the same master reel-to reel, as the original. When the mix was updated, the only change was in the second cut after the "rumble", where the guitar solo cut was fixed. There have been very few changes made to this ride, its still top notch when compared to like rides.

I always rid ethis thing. there is somthign about an inclased scrambler that makes it so much more exiting. I really want to check out the new one at SFOG they added last year.

I agree with everything above. It would be nice if it went a little faster for a shorter amount of time, but going any faster for 4 minutes would just be sickening. And we dont want people getting sick in our park because they will never come back.

I do love the varity now in the lighting shows as well. I have paid this ride a lot of attention this current season. More and more added to the lighting each season. some of the lighting is computer controled others are manualy operated witch gives the operators some control over making slight changes to the show each ride. with so many lighting effects the show really can very each time you ride.
