Review of 610 Limited Train @ Six Flags Astroworld

After getting onto the topic of trains earlier, I decided to go back and review Six Flags Astroworlds 610 Limited train. This is a tough one to rate for me, becuase there are two good aspects to a successful train ride, being a great locomotive, as well as an awesome journey. Well, this train is ok. To start off with, this train is designed specifically to move people around the park, not like some railroads that provide breathtaking scenes of nature or action to entertain you while moving. The train moves through the armpits of Houston known as Astroworld. The scenery is bland, and needless to say, the ride is not tremendously exciting. The locomotive on the other hand is pretty good, it would get a 7 on a scale of ten (the ride gets a 5 because it is typical transportation, hence the 6). The locomotive I had was a genuine steam engine, acceptable by my standards, but nowhere near the glory of Dollywoods train. After doing a little research, it seems that the park also has a hydraulic and an electric engine, which automatically dropped a point off of my review, which now sits at a medicre 5. The train at Astroworld was hardly entertaining, but it was shade and transportation for those of us too darned lazy to walk, so I would recommend this one primarily on the basis of a great resting area, one that moves. (Maybe Un)fortunately, I have not beem to the park in three plus years, but the 610 limited did provide a pretty good memory to keep, even 3 years and quite a few train rides later. Oh, if I ever get stuck riding on anything other than the Steam engine, you may see this rating slip further than it already has.
