Review of Enterprise @ Dorney Park

This is a fairly nauseating ride. It is pretty crazy. Just another Enterprise type ride. Dont go with two people on a very hot day or else you will regret it. In order to enjoy the ride, just hold onto the bars on the sides so stay somewhat upright.

While I dont mind the review, I do think that Enteprises can be awesome flat rides. I havent been on a Huss version like this, so I cant make a good judgement, but the Schwarzkopf we have down here really knocks my socks off.
They sure can be nauseating read down a bit

Yeah, this one is old school. There is actually talk that this may be the last year for it at the park just because they are having problems finding parts, or getting a certain kind of fuel or something. It is a fairly short ride, with it only going up right about twice or so. It is definately crammed in there though if you decide to go with two people, and I am not really that big... about 510" or 11 and about 180lbs. The metal doors bang constantly the whole way and the seats are none to be desired. You can get a little banged up too. The ride has gotten consistantly worse throughout the years. I actually wouldnt mind saying far-well to it.

I cant say that it doesnt get crowded in the carts, but Wheelie gets much better operations. It always has a 30 minute wait because the duration is really long, I think probably about five-seven full cycles at the maximum angle. I think its a blast, but I also tend to go in alone because I a so big (add 5" and 20lbs or so), so that makes it a little more enjoyable. Believe it or not, it sounds like Six Flags takes good care of Wheelie, because it is still in good condition with the seats and what not (though they are kinda hard). I can see where you wouldnt mind seeing Dorneys go, but I would hate Six Flags if they removed Wheelie because it is probably the only flat in the park that I would classify as above average. Ill still ride this one up there... one Q: is it permanant or trailer-mounted?

Besides the parts, I have also heard from an employee that there are problems with cracks that need to be welded, but I dont know if I believe that one. But to answer your question, Enterprise was installed in 1984 I believe, I might have to check on that, and is permanantly mounted.

If you are looking for some really good flats at the park when you go, you should hit up the Whip and the Scambler. The Whip is totally old fashioned and is basically the same as when it was installed back in 1920 (basically the same, you get what I mean). And the Scambler was back in the 70s, I believe 1970 was the exact year. That scambler is the best that I have ever been on, and I have been on a lot of scamblers, at fairs, carnivals and parks. It is probably close to my all-time favorite flat.
Im with you about the whole Enterprise thing. I think that they are pretty cool too. It was good at Dorney when they actually ran it longer. Now it is pretty bad. The rating that I have is just because it is from the pre-Cedar Fair era and took into affect that it used to be better. 7 is actually pretty high for now. I dont really mind seeing it go since it is in an area of the park that really needs some work with the likes of Apollo 2000, Musik Express and the newly renovated Tilt-a-whirl. Not really the best place in the park. Not just because of the rides, but you will see when you get there. I hate to see rides go, but this might be the time for this one.

At first I had to look up what a whip was (thanks to penncoasters.com ), and it looks like a blast. As far as scramblers, I love a good spin on one, and rarely have I been disappointed (re: Visionland). I can see where you are displeased with the Enterprise, because duration can really make or break a flat. I was browsing through the website (Dorneys that is), and they look to have a good collection of flats. Im glad that I will be there on what should be a relatively calm day, I should get a bunch of rides on coasters and get to sample a large portion of the flat repetoire. It will probably be too cold to do water rides, I rarely do em anyway. Dorney really looks promising in the flat ride Dept.: Ive never been on a Chance Revolution or a Huss Top Spin, so Revolution and Hang Time are musts.

I enjoy train rides, and was wondering, which of these (Pic 1 or Pic 2) is the train, or both, or do they run on the same track? Its a bit confusing to me. Anyway, I think that Dorney has a good flat collection, so I dont think that it would be too bad if they lost the Enteprise. Just keep it one more year for me 8)

You will like the Revolution, it is not bad, but nothing spectacular. Hang Time is the best though. Truely an excellent flat ride, especially since it is run correctly.

Those are two trains. The park does have two different trains that run on two different tracks. The first pic is the Cedar Creek Cannonball. This was added by the Cedar Fair people and runs around Thunder Canyon rapid ride. You also get nice views of the front portion of the park with Talon and Hang Time and such and it also runs right by Wildwater Kingdom. The second is the Zephyr. This was added in 1935 and pretty much saved the park from total collapse during the Great Depression. It runs on the complete opposite end of the park. It loads over in the area of the Whip and the Rock Climbing. It starts running parallel to the parking lot, passes a couple of flats and goes right past the Laser, then travels into the back woods, which is nice and relaxing and travels parallel to the creek that runs through the park. It basically runs on an over sized lawnmover engine, so you dont want to sit up too close to the front inorder to avoid dying from the fumes. You also get completely enclosed, which gives it a feel of really being on a train. But, there are still windows to get good views. Cedar Creek Cannonball really isnt that great, but Zephyr is a must ride, if not just for the pure historical factor of it.

Thanks Herc, youre like my Dorney trip advisor LOL Thanks for clearing that up, it seemed a bit strange to have two trains, and Ill be sure to check it out. Too bad my park trains website (not mine personally, but the one I reference) has gone offline Ill have to look for the manufacturer elsewhere. I will be sure to ride Zephyr, and probably the CCC.
Revolution look cool, almost like a cousin of the Frisbees. I think it looks cool at least, but I really want to ride a top spin, so that looks like my first one.

Yeah, it is really weird to have two trains in a park, especially the size of Dorney. Zephyr is the definite ride to hit up over Cedar Creek Cannonball, but it should be a pretty dead day, so have a ball on both. Revolution is good, but you will enjoy The Claw at Hershey a little more. Hang Time tops them all though. That is A material. If you have any other questions Ill be glad to help.
