Review of Psyclone @ Six Flags Magic Mountain

Im almost afraid to post this, but here goes. I havent been on as many wood coasters as some people, so I wont compare it to other woodies. I will simply talk about the ride itself, and I think Psyclone is great fun. The first drop is pretty intense, and all of the hills that follow provide a neat sensation too. I wouldnt call it airtime, I guess its just that you do slow down considerably going up each hill, but then you get yanked down the other side. Riders are shaken back and forth, but I kind of look for this in a wooden coaster. Maybe Im immune to Psyclone (as I know exactly what to expect, because Ive been riding this since it opened back in 1991), but I dont find it unbearably rough. I see other people coming off the ride in agony, yet I am never in any pain whatsoever. Call me crazy, but I honestly enjoy this coaster a lot.

Well, at least you agreed that there is little/no airtime, and if you dont mind being thrown around so much, and that this ride doesnt cause you pain, then thats fine, but I was one of those other people coming off the ride in agony.

I just rerode Psyclone again yesterday for the gabazillionth time, and I still do not find everyones complaints warranted. I was paying careful attention to everyone getting off the ride, and it seemed as though, while maybe shaken up, people honestly were excited about the ride theyd just experienced. I think most people expect to be shaken up by a wooden coaster. While riding, I did notice some actual decent airtime on the first drop, as is has a wierd hump halfway down it. That hump used to be very rough, but its been retracked so that now it provides some more comfortable negative Gs. Im just sorry not everyone enjoys this ride like I do. Oh well.
