Review of West Coaster, The @ Pacific Park

Hmmm, what can I say about the West Coaster? Well, it is a roller coaster, so thats a plus! The train climbs an approximately 50-foot lift hill, then goes through a spiral at an extremely slow speed. You do, though, then get two nice little drops that provide some negative Gs, followed by another spiral (a little quicker this time) before reentering the station. It was kind of like an adult version of a kiddie coaster layout. In all honesty, this coaster wasnt that bad. You can see the entire ride from the pier, so you know exactly what youre getting into. It is a fun ride for pretty much anyone to enjoy, and I was watching people on board the trains as they pulled back into the station, and it really did seem like everyone was having a great time. This coaster (along with all the other rides at the park) are built on an actual pier that extends out a bit over the ocean. Add that to the fact that you get two circuits around this thing, and you have a coaster that is a pleasant ride experience rather than an intensely thrilling one.

I hit the pier, but the coaster didnt look thrilling at all, so I passed. This makes it look not all that bad, but I wasnt ready to fork over 4 bucks.

I didnt mind paying four dollars to try this once. Its rare that you can find a stand-alone coaster that costs less than that these days. They also offer the unlimited ride wristband, but I didnt have time to make it worth it. There is a medium-sized drop tower and a rather large ferris wheel on the pier that are probably pretty good, being right on the ocean. A few other standard flat rides as well.

Oh, I know that it was a nice pier, but I myself only hd about an hour, so the wristband wouldnt have been good for me niether.

I spent my $4 in the arcade playing air hockey rather than going on this weak looking coaster. Actually, The West Coaster was closed when I was in Santa Monica on 1999 but I still think I made out better playing air hockey.

Youre right, this isnt a ride I would pay for very often. But like I say, Im eager to try every coaster at least once.
