Review of Millennium Force @ Cedar Point
0 Rating Posted by: skifast22 on 9/4/2004 12:21:00 PM
If i were to rate this coaster soley for the first drop, it would be a 10. But i think to be fair, i must include the rest of the track as well...there is still over 4000 of it afterall! So, after the first drop is where i get disappointed. The overall speed of the ride is fantastic. What this coaster lacks though, especially when compared to other Intamin hyper coasters is airtime. there are only 2, maybe 3 hills that you get a little air. But the airtime is really minimal when you compare it to Intamins Superman coasters. The Intamin overbanked turns are a fun element, but they are used too often on Millenium. The first one and last one are OK, but i wish they had done something a little different with the middle two...maybe they could have put a section like Supermans helix section at SFNE. At least that would have added another 1 or 2 airtime hills. So, I would rate the first drop a 10+, and the rest of the coaster a 6, so I chose 8 as an overall.

I know exactly what you mean. I havent reviewed it yet because Ive been mulling over the same considerations. One thing that occurred to me is that the sustained speed of MF may make certain elements unfeasible. The physics of a bunny hill or helix at 90 mph are probably much different than they are at 75 mph. SROS @ SFNE is, I believe, the better, more complete ride. What did you think of Magnum XL-200? Talk about airtime!

Well, the helix doesnt have to be close to the ground. It could be very wide (like S:ROS @ SFDL/SFA) and graceful or anything like that. I think that is one element that really could have made the ride better and the fact that it was left out really feels like something is missing...like it was an improvement that could have been but was left out.

Eh, if its a 10+ on the drop, and a 6 for the rest of the coaster (which is your opinion - I think that it is great overall myself), then shouldnt it be a 8+ and maybe even a 9?

Erm.. he gave it an 8...

Doncha know that this ride was built for speed and not just butt slamming air time? Chet, so what if he gave it an 8? Its an opinon and not yours!

Your a spoiled rider...this deserves no less than a 9.
But I respect your opinion...now if you gave it a 6...

Youre the one to talk in terms of being a spoiled rider razor12. Like Coaster05 said in the Top Thrill Dragster comment section, you definitely sound like another Cedar Point fanboy. Just because he gave Millennium an 8 & sowinski gave TTD a 7 doesnt mean that theyre both spoiled riders. At least they backed up their rating as to why they gave a 7 & 8 unlike some people wholl give certain rides a bad rating & just back it up by saying, "Its too rough." or "The ride was just horrible." Give them some credit. I know I gave Millennium a 10 & its still my #1 coaster to this day, but I can see where skifast22s coming from. Even I admitted that there couldve been more airtime hills & the airtime couldve been a lil bit better too.
