Review of Storm Runner @ Hersheypark

Wow. This ride was great. Prior to this, my only launch coasters were Jokers Jinx and Hulk, this ride put both of them to shame. The launch was quite frankly perfect (EDIT: not as perfect as Xcelerators, but still incredible). The top hat offered an awsome shot of airtime and a small pause. The Cobra Loop was great and offered some nice floater air. The zero-g roll was really disorienting and you got a great dose of air going into it. The flying snake dive was the biggest surprise of the ride. I didnt expect it to be nearly as intense or as fun as it was. Exiting the flying snake dive gave me a crazy falling sensation, almost like I flew out of my restraints in the middle of a roll. Then, to finish your trip you get an airtime hill. My only complaint is the restraints. If youre tall, they will get sorta uncomfortable. Also, it felt pretty weird holding on to the lapbar when youre wearing OTSRs. Your basic instinct as a coaster rider tells you to grab on infront of your chest but on SR you have to grab on like a lap bar. However, you quickly forget about that right when you start to pull up to the launch pad and the scary voice strarts telling you about how you should ride. I loved it, I just thought it should have been a little longer, but I dont know what else they could have put in to match the first part. I think its better to have a short coaster that is awsome than have a coaster that starts out strong but gives a weak ending.

you dont have to grab the lap bar. You can always do your best to lift your arms and leave the park with purple and bruised biceps. Probably not a good thing for your swim training though.

I agree, it felt kinda weird with the holding on to the restraints.

It just felt like something was wrong with it, like OTSRs are meant to handles in a certain place, however, once we launched I completly forgot about it

Yeah. The restraints are very odd. They had a sign saying where not to hold on, and the place where you arent supposed to is where you usually do.

I dont see a problem with the restraints... anything for safety with fun, right? I didnt even think about them once it got going. Great review by the way. I feel the same way about the ride. That freakin scary voice man.
