Review of Millennium Force @ Cedar Point
0 Rating Posted by: BobFunland on 8/3/2004 9:54:00 PM
Millenium Force was an incredible coaster. It instantly, before the ride was even finished, had hit the top of my list. (See EDIT Below) The anticipation truly builds on the platform, but there is no time with the awesome elevator lift, leading to the best first drop that I have ever experienced. I waited 1.5 hours for the ride, and decided that to save half of an hour or more, I would take the second ros (still first car). The drop is phenomenal and it takes your breath away as you get an incredible view of the surrounding area only to be blurred by the 90+mph on the drop that sure makes you think that youre going vertical. The first banked turn was nice (all of the turns had some incredible banking), but picking up steam through the tunnel and then hitting the airtime-producing middle of the ride truly set this coaster on its way to being my favorite. As the train flys back through the tunnel and over the smaller yet floating bunny hop near the queue, one can feel nothing but pure exhilaration as the ride wraps up back into the station- this, to me, was coaster heaven. It has come to my attention that this review is dated. I have since ridden many more coasters, and quite a few were better to me than MF, so I slowly dropped it down my list and out of my top 10. Yea, I like a set of bumper cars more than Millennium, but they arent just bumpercars, they are kick-butt Lusse Skooters. Sorry if this irritates people.

Coaster Heaven, indeed - glad you got to ride this one. This is pure genius in coaster design, and I absolutely love it. Great review.

Great review Bob, you are so right.

What happened? It was your #1 ride for a while.

Im curious too, it looks like two of my favorite B&M monsters have dethroned MF, if it was #1. Which is leading back to my hypothesis that Cedar Point isnt really the coaster capital everyone calls it. Sure it has a ton of coasters, but are they really the best around? Anyway, Id like to see why Bob bumped MF.

Now its not even in your top ten?! What is going on. How did this happen? And, how can you like bumper cars more than Millennium Force? If this is how you really feel, Id appreciate it if you would change your rating on Millennium Force.

Yea, you are right, I bumped Millennium for a few reasons. First, my top 10 is getting harder and harded to do, since I hae now been on 130 or so coasters and more than 200 different rides in total. Also, to me, Millennium, along with Storm Runner, were easier for me to dump out of my top 10 than anything else, so they went first. I would have felt worse dumping any of the others... and IMO Superman was much better than Millennium.

How can I like bumper cars more than Milennium Force? Its simple: I can, and Im actually not alone. Read my review of Skooters and the others, although some nimwit didnt like my review, I think I speak on behalf of the others saying that it is just an incredible ride. I just today put Skooters in my top 10 after riding another set of phenominal Lusse Auto Skooters Bumper Cars, and since those werent listed I had even more appreciation for the Knoebels set and decided that I wanted them in my top 10 because they are that damn fun.

You just cant understand until you ride em, I know I didnt quite get it until this summer.

My review will be changed a bit and I will probably lower the rating to a 9.

BobFunland, I support you in the painful but necessary step of allowing Millenium Force to pass out of your Top 10.

W/e, that was fun to do. I kinda regret it though. I should have just said it.

You know, you can pull that sort of thing on most people, but when it says "IP Logged" its not joking, and I can see those #s. I just rather see you say it to begin with, true or not.

Its not completely true.

If it makes you feel any better, bunkleg, I prefer Millennium to Thunderhead, BobFunlands number one ride. Seriously, everyone has different opinions on rides; dont be offended if someone doesnt agree with your views. Thats the beauty of this site, different people sharing their own experiences and opinions, and personally, I like it when theres a variety of opinions on any given ride. Its much better than reading "this is the best" over and over again.

Wow Red That was the best comment ever!!!!!

You mean you actually read reviews to gain knowledge on the rides not to just see if your ffavorite is number 1 then if its not you either bash people or pick a new favorite.

Anoymous I agree with Larry you are a puss. Also do you really believe any of the regular posters are scared of any ride.

Yea, thanks for backing me up against n00bs and anons. TPC is a wonderful site when properly used... by the way, Timberman, since I have now moved passed Millennium Force, I have to ask how you are doing in the battle to move past MMMBop.

I only did one IP login, and that was the one that Bob caught me on. The rest, I dont know who they are.
BobFunland on 7/26/2005 10:12:19 PM said:
Yes, I should confirm that is true. The others are from some faceless wimp that we have seen an increase in recently (and this guy has probably been around for a while)
bunkleg on 7/26/2005 11:19:46 PM said:
Bob, I know this is off-topic, but u dont have aim, so I dont know any other way to ask you this. Where do you get the money to constantly go to all of these parks across America? It cost me and my mom over $1000 just to go to Cedar Point.
Timberman on 7/27/2005 12:09:31 AM said:
Hey, BobFunland, to answer your question, Im pretty much over MMMBop. I never went so far as to buy or download the record, and thankfully, the airplay (and the band, if you can call them that) seems to have petered out for good. Im back on the Anthrax, Clash, Pantera maintenance program, with the occasional booster of Neil Diamond when Im in a bad way.
BobFunland on 7/27/2005 2:10:48 PM said:
Yea I was just wondering since I remembered you referenced it in your review, thanks for the update Timberman.

bunkleg, I get the money from my parttime job (which pays pretty darn well) and my mom is very helpful at times also.

Bob, I didnt know where else to put this since you dont have aim. - Someone has gone around to almost all of my reviews, and given them a bad And, you know that not all of them are bad. If you can please found out who did that, and if you can somehow take them off, I would really appreciate it.
bunkleg on 8/3/2005 11:44:19 AM said:
And, some of my best have 2 bads, so either its 2 ppl, or 1 person with 2 accounts.

I was thinking that I was nuts for enjoying Shivering Timbers more than Millenium Force [and my girlfriends prodding of, "No way is this better than MF!!!"] but uh, now I feel a bit more secure in my thinking, although not enough to bump it to number one

I do have a feeling that after this summer/next summer, MF will no longer reside as number one on my list.

How can a coaster hit the Top 10 lists when its not even done?
larrygator on 10/21/2005 5:15:06 PM said:
jdale - what are you talking about with your comment
jdale on 10/21/2005 5:17:59 PM said:
Im talking about undone coasters hitting the top 10 lists. They can only live in those spots if people have ridden them. Use your mind!
larrygator on 10/21/2005 5:21:08 PM said:
jdale - understood, but who put an unfinished coaster in their Top 10?
BobFunland on 10/21/2005 10:53:02 PM said:
I believe you misinterpreted my statement. It was supposed to represent the notion that the ride was so enjoyable to me that even before I disembarked I knew I had a new number one coaster. Since then things have changed and it is no longer my top ride but still a very good one Thats not the only time you misinterpreted things, please be careful of that as not everything is written in the most literal of senses.

On a more serious side note, going through and commenting on 20 reviews at a time doesnt achieve much. With a limited number of reviews on the front page, a good portion of these commented reviews will go unnoticed and therefore nothing would happen. And to save time of going directly back to these reviews, please withhold from insulting comments and just as an FYI Xcelerator also has very fast acceleration.

Wow, its interesting to see that 3 other hypercoasters stayed on Bobs top 10 list: Nitro, AC and SROS. Out of those and MF, Ive only ridden Nitro so I cant compare. However, its an interesting ranking because the majority of people have MF or SROS at the top and AC / Nitro lower. Im still a little puzzled at the 2 bumper car rides.
BobFunland on 10/23/2005 12:01:26 AM said:
Its just personal preference with those three. They are all very, very good roller coasters and its hard to narrow it down and be too picky. Bumper car rides? Ive covered that a few times and all I can say is that you have to experience it first-hand to understand.
