Review of Storm Runner @ Hersheypark
1 Rating Posted by: kowrip on 5/23/2004 7:54:00 PM
This was a fantastic new ride by Intamin. The new dual track station and new restraint systems were both very well designed. The inversions were great and the launch was simply AMAZING. Ive ridden both sides of B&R The Chiller and Storm Runners launch beats them both. Your stomach drops completely during the launch. The only negative thing I can say is that I expected better air time from the top-hat element. This was my first time through that type of element and I expected to feel way more negative Gs. Even so, the ride experience was definitely an excellent one and the waiting times were not bad at all (30 and 50 minutes), considering the ride is very new. Definitely ride this one if you visit Hersheypark. Get ready .... here we go !!

I am out of space for photos on this site, of I would have gotten some of the ride up.

Interesting. I dont know why it seemed like I didnt get a lot of airtime. The top hat SHOULD deliver loads of airtime. However, the ride basically CRAWLS over the top so that probably has something to do with it. Im sure if the hill was 30 feet lower (or the top speed was faster), it would deliver a crazy amount of airtime.

You may have had a slow launch. Not all launches on these things are created equal. I got loads of airtime on the tophat, as many others have said as well.

Actually I think thats common on these type of coasters. I know the Xcelerator (Knotts Berry Farm) slows up over the hill (although I usually expereince airtime there, so that cant be it.) Where were you sitting? Maybe you get more airtime in the front or the back?

I rode it twice and neither of them delivered the amount of air time that I expected. I rode in the last car and the 2nd to last car. It may have been a slow launch. I still loved the ride, though.

The back of the train recieves little airtime over the tophat (going down is another story) but the front delivers plenty.
