Excellent pacing and ultra smooth. In fact, a little too smooth. The racing action is great, but this ride lacks a vital component, airtime.

I subscride to the hteory that a wooden coaster shouldnt be smooth as glass, there should be a little roughness to it. Bill Cobb once said something to the effect that if a coaster is too smooth he might as well be sitting at home on the couch.

Now that being said, there are too kinds of rough, the good king and the bad kind. The good kind can be found on coasters like the Phoenix or Cyclone, where it is not painful, but the coaster lets you know that you are riding it, it bounces you around a little, smacks you a bit. The bad kind is the kind where you get off holding your back swearing you will never, ever ride that POS again (but do five minutes later anyways).

Lighning Racer has neither, it is smooth as glass. But, that is not why I rated it an eight, I rated it an eight because it has no airtime at all.
